AFA COUNCIL 70 PHL UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR

I thought, by reading this thread, that this was already reported to AFA National or whomever? If it is as serious as you all claim, I am surprised it has gone on for this long! I would surmise that the pre-crumbling of AFA70 will be happening any minute now, if it has not started behind-the-scenes already!

Rats. I thought for sure you would have liked to do my homework for me. Oh well, guess I am just another scheming F/A, similar to those in our local office... 😛

These are allegations of abuse of power and position. If these officers credibility and sincere integrity to do the right thing is at stake, or in question, then they should step up and should furnish the information the members seek. Otherwise remember it, and don't reelect them again and ensure everyone in that particular base is notfied that full disclosure was not given when requested.

The MEC President is aware that this is going on and feels that this is acceptable practice. He has been contacted about this numerous times. So the only other solution is for AFA International to investigate this allegation. For AFA to be utilizing funds this way is unacceptable. They should be picking up trips off of AIL and being paid like the rest of us. As for the reserve chair he needs to be on line like the rest of us reserves and sitting on call only collecting 73 hours of pay which really sucks! I want to know how they figure they deserve 5 hours of pay per day for a 9 to 5 when the rest of us end up if we are lucky getting 5 hours for 14 hours of work. I am very disappointed in our elected officers and I suggest that a petition be sent around to recall them here in PHL.

And don't forget that a regular reserve only gets 3:30 for each 24 HOUR period they are on call. Gosh, if we were paid like the Reserve Chair our minimum would be 95 hours a month...not 73. FAIR IS FAIR people.

Sorry, Lovethesun, I cannot agree 100%. I fail to see the "abuse." He said, she said.... I believe this is stemming from a group that is jaded because this is the contract that they work under, and frankly, it stinks. Who should we blame? Well, the union of course! Unless you, or Pitbull, or myself, or anyone, can come up with some hard FACTS, make them public (or at least public to the F/A's), this is how it will be. I want to see for sure that the union officers are abusing their power. Then, my tune will change....

Why does the reserve chair need to be "online" like the rest of us? He is in a union position! He knows his stuff, whether you want to admit it or not! From what I can see, he works hard! Is it worth 105 hrs plus ETB time? I will say that you could not PAY ME ENOUGH to listen to what these officers have to listen to day in, and day out....

So by your argument, the reserve chair should be working in the office for his 73 hour guarantee, and you should be collecting the same hangin' out in your crash pad all day? OR would you rather we just NOT have a RSV chair, and let him go back to the line? I am confused....

Ok, the MEC Pres. has no problem with the way AFA70 is conducting business? Then take the fight higher! You are sitting in your crash pad all day, ring up AFA National! Let's get this recall ball rolling! 😀

Well, from what I see the Reserve Chair position is no different than the other committee Chair position. The other committees throughout AFA are out on line flying like the rest of the flight attendants. Are you suggesting that the other committee chairs should be receiving the same pay as the Reserve Chair? He is not an elected officer so he should not be receiving the same benefits that they are receiving. Once again why is the other elected officer not in the office and being paid accordingly. Oh that is right he is up Laura's butt! Unless someone is kissing her butt they do not get to work for the union.

From my understanding airportman has sent this to the international office for investigation.

Well thanks to some clarification from somone in the know. It seems as if the only person in the PHL AFA70 office paid by the company is the LECP. All the others are paid with Union Money. Where does that come from? Hmm. So to use my money to Further the financial good fortunes of another Reserve FA to the tune of 105 hours a month...and then have him pick up another 35 or so hours off the ETB kinda pis#@ me off!!!

Ok, we are 100% absolutely positively sure that this RSV person makes 105 hours a month, correct? This is public knowledge? Because I also heard that DCA was definitely closing as of 9/1/06. And we are merging with NW. And glassware is on domestic. Just want to be sure.... 😛

Count down AFA time and the time that the person makes on ETB. See what you think. Maybe that will make a believer out of you.

Uh no thanks, I'll leave that to the "investigators" that get involved... As I said before, I have no problem with the 105 and the ETB stuff, just that he (they!) are available and promoting the well being of the F/A's! Union work takes a commitment and a passion that few of us can grasp. If you can come up with some valid evidence to the contrary, I suggest you send it to this airportman or whomever so they can forward it to AFA National. Until then, I continue to appreciate AFA70 and their hard work. Things would be a lot worse if we did not have them working with us. TRUST ME.

Thank you.

Yea I really feel fortunate to have officers working for the flight attendants that are telling us that the airplane is not our personal piggly wiggley.
And why would you ask the question if you are too busy hiding your head in the sand....

Oh don't be so dramatic! 😛 The Piggly Wiggly comment was made because people were (are) being terminated for stupid things. It's truly sad. Stealing company property is one of them, I am sure. She could CARE LESS what you do on the a/c, but I can say with certainty that she and the other officers are tired of seeing flight attendants being terminated for things such as stealing and being out of base. Would you want to spend your day as a Union official who has negotiated contracts and lent her expertise for 30 years, sitting in a Supervisor's office defending flight attendants who decided to commute home early or stole duty free? Exactly..you would not... I thought the Piggly Wiggly email was hilarious. Good for her! Maybe they could answer more phone calls if they were in the office more, and not on the 3rd floor of the PHL airport so much!

Whatever they are required to do for the membership is what They are paid to do!!! So if it's sitting in the supv. office all day so be it. At least she's not there on call 24 hours a day...at the mercey of Crew Sked!

That's what I am saying! I am sure that the LECVP would love nothing more than to be in the office all day, as opposed to wasting union dues witnessing terminations at the airport. She has been doing this work longer than many of us have been alive, and for that she deserves respect. Period. She has a requirement to the membership, and she executes that. As does the RSV chair.

And I won't even get into the "24 hours a day...at the mercy of Crew Sked!" comment, you are a reserve. She, nor the RSV chair, have anything to do with that. It is a product of the current **RATIFIED BY THE MEMBERSHIP** contract. Nothing more, nothing less. Just be happy that they are there to protect you should you need it....

Show me the abuse, and I will agree.....until then....
