AFL-CIO Issues "Interference Decision" Against the Transport Workers Union (TWU)

In a three (3) page decision issued today by President, John Sweeney, the AFL-CIO issued a ruling against the Transport Workers Union (TWU) for their failure to comply with an earlier decision by the federation which granted the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA exclusive organizing rights in the goal of welcoming NWA flight attendants back under the protective umbrella of the AFL-CIO.

Earlier this month, AFA-CWA had filed a "non-compliance" complaint against the TWU when they announced they had entered into a merger agreement with the PFAA. Upon reviewing the evidence and testimony provided at the non-compliance hearing held last week, the AFL-CIO has ruled that "TWU's efforts to affiliate PFAA, and PFAA's activities in connection with the affiliation, will inevitably lead to interference" in the upcoming NMB election process.

The AFL-CIO has determined that in order to come into compliance with Article XXI, TWU must take the following actions:

1. Cease any and all efforts to affiliate PFAA;
2. Cease any financial or other assistance to PFAA; and
3. Issue a public statement supporting AFA-CWA in the upcoming NMB election.

The AFL-CIO subcommittee will retain jurisdiction over this matter and the TWU must advise the AFL-CIO within five (5) days what steps they have taken to come into compliance with this decision.

Northwest flight attendants for AFA-CWA were very pleased to hear today of the AFL-CIO's ruling. After learning of today's ruling, Northwest flight attendant Susan Squiers, who is based in Minneapolis stated "AFL-CIO President John Sweeney is to be commended for honoring his commitment to stand behind our flight attendants during these difficult times. Today's decision helps alleviate some of the confusion and division that has escalated among our flying partners".

<_< ----- Now the AFL/CIO gets involved! Where the he!! were they when one member union stapled another, contrary to the Allegheny/Mohawk agreement! :shock: :down:

Well when AMR employees at Eagle don't get full seniority when the cross over to AA, why should TWA people who were never part of AA to begin with? Get over it MCI, its done and over, this is not the place to discuss it. ;)

The afl-cio is nearly as worthless as the twu is.

Again PTO with the obsession of unions...
Why are you concerning yourself with something that does not concern you? You (and me as well)have no reason to post under this link. We have no dog in this fight. Let it go.

:lol: :lol: That’s it Hackman sweep the "Solidarity" of your silly little unions under the rug. :lol: :up: These Clowns would beat each other in the head with a club for those dues won't they? :)
Well stupid, this issue was hashed and rehashed over and over before your smelly scab carcass was ever here. You were still at some aviation MRO armpit when this was occuring. :ph34r:

Really, WTF do you know about solidarity scab? The only one your loyal to is yourself, and even then that issue is in serious doubt. :unsure:

In addition, you'll bend over and grab your ankles on command for your Scab Air pittance, pathetic is too kind a word for you scab. :down:

Allegheny/Mohawk mandates binding arbitration in the event the two parties can't reach an agreement on their own. It does not dictate date of hire. AA/TWU-TWA/IAM went to binding arbitration under the auspices of the arbitrator Kasher. Both sides stated their cases and he made his ruling. TWA mechanic and related were not stapled; they got full seniority in the bases (STL and MCI) that they brought to the transaction. NAAtives were basically protected from the TWAers in the AA bases and cities. This has been explained over and over and over again. Hackman is correct when he said it is over and done with.
