Aircraft maint issues

In the past we bid crews as well, not just terminal/hangar. Who knows how it will go now. They have been wanting to do it your (LUS) way, but it hasn't happened yet to date.

At line stations at AA we bid hangar and hangar is broken down into areas. At terminal we bid terminal and it's broken down into terminal areas. Now this all depends on your station. Smaller stations may only have one terminal selection and no hangar. Different stations have different day off policies. Fixed days or rotation of days off. You pick your days off when you bid. Again some stations have different ways of selecting days off. Not bidding a zone as you mentioned can have issues. Some zones require certain qualifications like ETOPS on zones that handle International flights. Some zones have more work than others. This gives management the ability to pick and choose who they want to work in certain zones. They can put you in a undesirable zone and work with guys you don't get along with or just don't work well. They can break up guys that always paired up and worked well together but not well liked by management. Too me this is a form of punishment. Unions are suppose to protect us from things like this and yet they agree to thin out the choices of picking your work zones and shifts by seniority. I guess further on down the line you will only pick your shift start time by seniority. Got to love the combined association of the IAM/TWU.
