Come on, really? Are you surprised?the update today is a crock of ****. and they negotiate the week of May 22nd. thats what the hell we pay dues for? bull ****. now we have the nmb on board so there is another two fucking years down the tubes.
Regarding that particular situation, the company actually tried to place blame on Tulsa and deflect any negative backlash for outsourcing the seat work. Our local union leadership was offended enough to take to the airwaves and inform the public that the seats were not installed by Tulsa maintenance.
I believe the company knows what the long term cost of outsourcing maintenance is. Numerous members of our own local management have provided the new corporate leaders hard numbers showing work was more cost effectively accomplished in house. These local individuals have been told to get onboard with the USAir program or hit the road. Some have been "let go".
I remember that LaLi. It wasn't the union that said no to that. The company said not to do it because they wanted to get paid for every single thing.I remember when we were doing maintenance for another company at TULE. I can't remember if it was Omni or Allegiant or whatever (it was a long time ago). I remember our crew chief (a grade a a$$ kisser) suggesting to management we could clean the customers aircraft as a bonus (even though they only paid for mechanic maintenance). This was after Sept 11th when they were pushing that shared sacrifice crap. You would think a company claiming to be in dire financial straights and asking employees for concessions would not be giving away free labor.
Where was the UNION in all of this?
I wish that were so OldGuy@AA. In fact the company DID have us clean those aircraft for free.I remember that LaLi. It wasn't the union that said no to that. The company said not to do it because they wanted to get paid for every single thing.
Just for a little perspective, the APFA got another raise of 1.6% with back pay to sept 1. They won this from an arbitrator.
FA's have gotten contract improvements, and pay raises going back 2 years now.
18% (I think) pay raise with new contract (contract improvements) not concessionary
4% (not in contract) because Delta gave their employees a raise
6% (not in contract) because UAL was taking to long with their FAs so AA acted, for the AA FAs
3% contractual raise (i believe)
1.6% with back pay because of an arbitrator decision.
please correct my numbers if wrong, I did them off the top of my head.
Careful Buck will get angry that you are pointing out how his boys roll. hahaSince the AMT topic on negotiations was closed I decided to post this here.
Our negotiators better think about what they are going to do for us with the 401K if the government gets their way. A straight up contribution is the best way if we lose the individual tax break. If we pull back or stop the contribution then the company match might be sacrificed. Cost savings for the company and a financial loss for the individual towards retirement. Don't even think about the IAMPF. No guarantee it will be there for you or stay solvent long enough by the time you reach retirement. It the government gets their way we are so screwed.
