Aircraft Order to be announced

There is no deal in place for the A340s.

Geez. You guys all got the story wrong.

It seems Doug was just ordering "Seven and Sevens" at his favorite watering hole and somehow you guys think its an airplane order. Go figure.
Now THAT is funny---I'll be giggling about that for the rest of the day...Thanks for the chuckle !!!!

Before everyone starts counting this as a sure thing (from US Daily):

RUMOR MILL: Did US Airways order Boeing 787s?

You may have seen media reports (with unnamed sources, by the way) suggesting that US Airways has placed an order for Boeing 787s. Actually, we are still several weeks away from announcing our replacement aircraft order. We put out a request for proposals earlier this year for 60 aircraft. These aircraft will be used to replace retiring aircraft in the years ahead. Stay tuned – this is a big deal and we’ll tell you and world as soon as it's appropriate.

Of course, they'll want to deny any reports until they officially announce it. Still hoping for it to be true!

I agree with FutureUSCapt, a media report first stated that we would be staying with the A350, and everybody got all excited. Then another media report said that we would switch to the 787, and again everbody got all excited as seen on this thread. Neither source actually has a confirmation from a US Airways spokesman, making both of these sources uncreditable.

I'm thinking the 787's will not be the only announcement. How about some 737's?
Yes.... I love Boeing.....!! ( I am going now!!!) 🙂

Maybe he will decide to replace the Embraier's..(sp)

w/ new 37's

IF true this will be the only smart thing this new JOKERS from TEMPE did right!!

Not the first...the second. Deciding to put the OCC in PIT was the first smart decision.

I'm not sure why everyone is getting excited.

Airplanes don't assure the success of an airline. The people who run the airline and a well focused and motivated employee group do.

Southwest flies 737's. No RJ's. No widebodys. But they have solid management/leadership and outstanding folks who work there.

I'd much rather see an order for a new management team. That's when I'll get excited.

And I fly the airplanes folks. I should be the first to get all pumped up over something like this.

Don't be distracted from the incompetence in Tempe.

Well, there is one source that we all can comfirm; uncle dougie doesn't want to pay his labor forces! He'll probably stretch all the contract talks until the first delivery.

. . . I'd much rather see an order for a new management team. That's when I'll get excited . . .

You could stick the present management into the cargo hold when US returns a leased plane. That would certainly take care of part of the problem.

Just what do you have to say/do to entice DP to go into the cargo hold? 😉

In a television interview, Parker declined to comment on the status of the airline's order for Airbus' new wide-body A350 plane, in the face of industry talk that it may switch to Boeing Co.'s more popular 787 Dreamliner.

"We're talking to both Boeing and Airbus about replacement aircraft for both narrow-body and wide-body," Parker said in an interview on CNBC.
