ALPA AAA MEC Thread for 8/10-8/17

I will make like my east buddy Nostradamas and predict that bases within bases will soon open!! Talk about getting kicked, this one is going to feel like they got the boot by a mule...

I have NO idea why you would feel that the company would find it advantageous to open 2 crew bases on the same piece of real estate. Sounds like a huge waste of money. If you are suggesting a transfer of aircraft or flying, they better send enough of you to cover the whole schedule.

splain it to me...

Watch cacti grow? Fry eggs on the asphalt? Stare at the spinning electric meter?

Jim

You overlooked drinking to excess....spending far too much time out in the desert sun...perhaps taking peyote/etc. All such would perhaps explain the management style, and overall westie attitudes methinks.

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - August 10, 2007

This is Arnie Gentile with a US Airways MEC update for Friday, August 10th, with three new items.

Item 1. On Wednesday, August 8th, the AWA MEC filed a motion in Federal Court to join ALPA as a necessary party and include ALPA as a defendant in our suit over the Nicolau Award. This of course is an attempt to take ALPA off a position of neutrality and use union dues money and resources to defend the flawed award. Our attorneys will oppose the motion. They will also file a motion to remand our lawsuit from the federal court back to the D.C. Superior Court. Both the AWA and AAA motions will be posted on the Pilot’s Only Web Site. Our motion to remand will take the position that the federal court has no jurisdiction over our lawsuit to set aside the Nicolau Award. Since our motion to remand will challenge the federal court’s jurisdiction, it will be decided first by the court.

Item 2. Permanent Base Bid 07-05 is open for bidding. It will close on Sunday, August 19th at 2330 EDT and the effective months for this bid are November and December 2007.

Some highlights of the bid include:

-- Recall of 165 pilots from furlough.

--Seasonal pull down of B757/B767 primary lines.
--Shift of B767D flying from PHL to CLT.

--PHL B757/B767 Domestic bid position will be eliminated in early 2008.

Bid 07-05 will be posted on the pilot’s only website under "What's New" and the "Bids & Awards" webpage.

Item 3. ALPA's 53rd Annual Air Safety & Security event was held this week in Washington, DC. ALPA bestowed honors on a number of pilots for their contributions to the safety and security of the airline industry, including US Airways Captain Clyde Romero, who was presented a Presidential Citation Award for his commitment to protecting aircraft against the dangers of shoulder-fired missiles, called MANPADS. MEC Chairman Jack Stephan says: "Captain Romero's military background, his willingness to investigate all aspects of the MANPADS threat, and his resolve to educate pilots about these threats make him an invaluable asset at both the national and airline level. I am proud to say that he embodies all of the characteristics of a dedicated US Airways pilot and ALPA member." Capt. Romero is the Vice Chairman of the MEC Flight Operations Security Committee and is also a member of the ALPA National Security Committee.

During the event, National Committee Safety Chairman, US Airways Captain Terry Mc Venes was surprised by receiving an award from America West Captain Brian Townsend, Chairman of the National Airspace Modernization Committee on behalf of all the Safety sub-committee Chairman, recognizing Captain Mc Venes for his Leadership and dedication to air safety.

WOW...If I sell out all my core values and "Go Alpa"...can I get some BS "job" that allows me to use my "military background" to do some BS in depth study as to how shoulder launched weapons vs giant tubes of aluminum/HUGE radar and thermal signature targets, quite often found low and slow within easy access to public areas, can somehow be magically thwarted? You can actually get full max monthly pay, and even a Presidential Citation for jerking people around like that? I'm developing a newfound respect for Alpo's ability to pad, and create "jobs" within it's ranks. This is truly a Land of Opportunity😉

I just called my reps to get their weigh-in on this.

1. Mr. Yahoo groups...... the AWA MEC was warned about this guy by the AAA MEC long before the Nicolau Award came out. The AWA MEC's read on his attempts to email them is that either a) the East MEC is putting him up to it in a desperate attempt to scare the AWA MEC into capitulating, or B) that he's trying to scare the AWA MEC into capitulating towards a joint contract against the wishes of his MEC. As for the U-Turn, well, the idiots who publish that had little crediblity when they started, and now have even less. U-Turns biggest author is doing alot of backpeddaling on the AWA web-boards right now because of it, including throwing Mr. Yahoo under the bus.

2. A dozen or more East pilots are emailing the AWA MEC regularly in an attempt to convince them to compromise so that we can get a joing agreement. Some, but not most, of these guys are west-coasters and want to come to PHX to bid captain ahead of an AWA pilot. Most of the others have stated their disagreement with the "separate ops" approach.

3. Contrary to the claims by some East pilots, the AWA MEC's strategy does NOT include bribing the East pilots into forgetting about the Nicolau Award with a joint contract. Nor do they believe that the East pilots will somehow "forget" or "accept" the award. They have a few paths mapped out, however, at this point it's more about what WON'T work. Negotiating solutions with an MEC who is continuing down the same path of taking an extremist position and then not backing down from it, WON'T work.

Armageddon, armageddon, armageddon!!!

Let my daddy vote!!!!!

Oh, I'm here you idiot. I just got off of a 4-day and didn't have internet access the last two days.

During my trip, I had the opportunity to fly 3 jumpseaters to PHL and I had a great conversation with one of your west coast commuters. I asked all of them about you and your writings. Here's what I got:

1. No one likes you
2. No one respects you
3. You're a moron
4. You don't know what you're talking about
5. You are a broken and cowardly old man

So, I take that long post as nothing but blather. I was told that you submitted work to U-Turn which I expected since you and the "editor" are pretty much cut from the same cloth. All that fell on deaf ears and did nothing but help discredit that rag even more - for that I thank you.

So to all that read USA320Pilots crap I tell you this - its all crap. His peers don't respect him and he's laughed at by his own pilots.

And I'm senior to him!!!

Now that is the TRUTH !!!!!!!!!!! I don't care who you are.....................
