When I look on the TWU Local 591 Webpage it still shows Gary Peterson as the President. I think Local 591 represents AMT’s and I thought Gary Peterson was a Licenced AMT also? Isn’t he?

I know it was TUL who once voted in an FSC as their President. That was a real kick to witness.

You are 100% correct. That is what is wrong with TUL no real solidarity.

Once he had ran his Presicency complete and the demise of Fleet Service, somehow this person all of a sudden became Facilities Maintenance.

Ok you’re missing my point. Gary Peterson?

Here at TUL it was Sam Ceary(sp). was the Fleet Service Clerk that became a Local President at a mostly Maintenance Local.

You’re still missing the point. Gary Peterson is on the Executive Negotiating Comittee and he’s an AMT. He’s 591’s Local President and an International Representative.

Sam Cirri was a FSC that TUL “chose” to vote in as their Local President. But he’s no longer your President as that’s now Dale Danker who is also an AMT.

. If they close it, the company must give a year notice, pay $25,000 per person, plus moving expenses.

They took all the moving expenses monies away on the BK contract. No moving expenses. We used to have system protection and a few had station protection. If you got laid off and moved to a vacancy or bumped as a protected employee, you used to get $12,500 for moving expenses.

Oh crap, are you serious? With your mentality, it would be the death of Unions. My opinion, if a company outsources, organize them. This country is ripe for organizing, look at what's going on. Teacher strikes in several states, the drive for $15, etc. Every person in a corporate America job should be organized and then companies would have to deal with the workers they have. Or, we can tell them all to stay put and suffer. Is that your strategy wanting to lead the IAM? Don't organize because you will lose your job! The middle class is already suffering and it would get worse. Smdh!

Do you have a problem if your union organizes your outsourced job? I've seen it a time or two

I seem to recall Arlon Spector (badspelling) Senator ftom.PA reaming Parker perhaps Parker put the final nails in the coffin at PIT
PIT went down the drain under Call me Dave Siegel, and the parade of clowns that followed finished the job. That debacle started priot to Parker.

My whole point is Parker telling a FA there would be no more cuts and there were.Perhaps my timeline was screwed up I dont eat sleep and chit this airline.Heck some loser has been gone for years and still comes he and corrects people when he should stick to posting recipes on other sites Business is business maybe if he didnt cut Pit further we would have filed for a third time came close in 2008

Yes I understand about Gary Peterson and he is the AMT saviour. 1 AMT and 4 Fleet Service ?

No actually I think when they were all in there talking it was Alex Garcia, Mike Mays, Gary Peterson, Sito Pantoja, Tom Regan and one more IAM guy I’m forgetting right now. So actually if you want to get technical it’s 4 Mechanics and 2 FSC.

Now that’s the executive comittee for the Unions but for the President Negotiators there are 6 TWU Fleet and 6 IAM Fleet and there are 6 TWU Mechanics and 6 IAM Mechanics.

There is no situation where it’s Fleet controlling the talks if that’s what you’re thinking.

And honestly as a matter of fact I’m beginning to think we’re Chopped Liver or something. All the stuff I’ve been posting here of the TWU putting pressure on the Airline has been Aircraft Maintenance related PERIOD. You got to be kidding me if you’re not noticing this yet? Or you have some serious blinders on.

Yes GP is an amt and only was appointed and joined the NC very recently. It's still a fleet union representing mechanics.

That only happens at Airlines, that haven't gone bankrupt. I consider myself very blessed by the man upstairs.
Driver, he was being sarcastic...

No. Gary is President of TWU Local 591 and has been a part of the Negotiations since Day 1. Gary was brought in to the Executive team close to the very beginning because a knowledgeable AMT needed to be and should be a part of those meetings.

Second part:

No. Actually if you want to be technical by numbers the TWU is more of a Bus, Rail and Flight Attendant Union than most other groups.

I’d have to find out the numbers but after the win at JetBlue they may now represent Flight Attendants as the largest groups? SWA, Virgin America, JetBlue.

“OUR UNION
The Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO represents nearly 140,000 members across the airline, railroad, transit, university, utility, service, and gaming sectors. We are mechanics, car cleaners, baggage handlers, disease control inspectors, bus operators, card dealers, flight attendants, and more—and we are on the front lines of moving the American economy forward, keeping the traveling public safe and offering working people a voice on the job since 1934.

TWU has four main divisions: Air; Gaming; Rail; and Transit, Universities, Utilities, and Services. We represent over 100 autonomous locals with members from across the United States.”
