American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I see that the forum is now shifting to the old "The Association (Union) is Broken -- Only Tim Can Fix It" narrative... Tim's digital allies are working overtime attempting to sell everyone on this agenda. All the while, Tim pretends he doesn't want a vote.

Meantime, the Company has attempted to circumvent the NC team(s), and sway Membership sentiment toward a ratification vote on their last proposal.

Really doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to see through this strategy...

Im going to be honest with you. I can fix this fractured negotiation in about 10 minutes.
The first thing i would do is to actually put actual members who WORK under the contracts inside the negotiation room. The negotiation committee will actually become the executive negotiation committee instead of a door standing in front of them.

Presently, there isnt one member in actual negotiations that is a lus mx or fleet that works under this contract, same for twu.

There will be great movement when we get the politics the hell outta there.

Tim has P. Rez ever worked under any IAM 141 or TWU 580 CBA? Seems PRez has a solid career as a union official from a low paid HP at-will employee. The TWU 580 agreement sounds like it was downright pitiful.

he did until i recommended him for a district job.

I will have to wait on the propoed CS policy to see what it is. Evidently a lot of people know but nobody wants to say.

The CS Policy/Swap has already been TA'd. Although not as liberal as the current LAA policy language it really shouldn't be a determining factor in a vote.

If we vote no based on that language then we may be really disappointed as they could just impose the current IAM language anyway.

We need something in place to adjust our raises if DL or UA get increases during our contract. I don't want to be stuck behind them for a year or more.

Looks like you have yourself a Catch-22 scenario there.

DL & UA are scheduled to pass us in wages on October & December.

If you vote no on a proposal with no wage adjustments, it will actually create the very scenario you want to avoid. We continue negotiating while the other airline pass us in wages.

if we get to section 6, then I just cant see a reasonable scenerio to get us a quick ta unless the company gets aggressive. The company has started pulling back work lately though. 25 flights in clt given to lsg caterer, 12 flights in lga goin to envoy, longtime alaska air contract in ord wasnt bidded on.

The no overtime as a result of a CS wording is rearing its head again. Obviously a CS or Trade will not be overtime but there is a system grievance now about the company not paying OT for short turns when a pm employee has picked up an AM CS the next day and is held late due to IRROPS. That needs to be resolved in advance also. This language appears just as vague on that as what we have now.

In MIA, they used to pay those until enterprising folks started picking up CS's to create the short turn after the get the OT.

They stopped paying them.

Lately, if the CS was processed prior to the OT they've been paying the short turn.

It won't be quick simply because the Association would have to come out of there with more than what was available when they went in.

That's also why pressure will mount if there is a last offer presented.

Is this the same PREZ that you bash and argue with on here and the same PREZ that you say voted for the UA agreement?
If so,,,,are you taking CREDIT or BLAME for him getting a DISTRICT JOB???
By the way.... I heard that you recommended CB for a District Job also.

Interesting about the CS creating a short turn...haven’t paid those in DFW in over a year with arbitration pending...

The only LSG trucks I’ve seen on planes in CLT are 737,s and they have been doing those ever since the merger happened

I don't expect to get a raise every single time UA DL or also WN does. I do expect our unions to negotiate some sort of mid-contract adjustments to catch up if we fall behind.

Now that we are talking about pay, it would be nice to have something in place to continue annual raises if a contract stalls in the future. I know that is not usually how it works or if that is doable in airline contracts after they have become amendable.
It is very easily done. As long as it is in the contract and written for continued raises while in contract nego's. No company (my opinion) will agree to have that in the contract, it will release all leverage for them to withhold raises, squeeze the employees into voting for first offer...

It was proposed by the association to remain at TOS at date of yearly increase.

Not to also forget to mention that the Association proposed for more than the 3% at DOS that the Company has proposed.

Good, I hope you guys get in the contract, it would benefit all employees.
BTW, here's an update that just came out today about us. Possibly RS's will happen month of June, voting should be month of July and the results out sometime in Aug. When we get it I will post the full T/A for you guys to compare and use. Good luck to you guys in hopes of an ILC as promised.

AMFA - SWA Technician Negotiations Update #65
May 29, 2018 -- We hope you all had a great holiday weekend. As everyone should know by now, on April 10, 2018, AMFA and Southwest Airlines announced an agreement in principal (AIP). This did not stop the hard work by both sides to turn the AIP into to a Tentative Agreement (TA). Since that time, both sides have presented total language packages on the AIP, and as of our last update -- Update #64, dated May 5, 2018 -- the parties had identified about seventeen issues with each other’s language that needed to be worked out. We have continued to work with the Company to bring those issues to a close.

longtime alaska air contract in ord wasnt bidded on.

i'm not sure if aa lost interest or due to the alaska/virgin merger.

it looks as though alaska is still using an H gate, with aa employees loading and pushing the plane. the bags come from alaska's L concourse bagroom, handled by menzies.

i know that alaska is very fussy and particular and they have to be going crazy with menzies. i know that alaska interline bags from intl. t5 are burning by the dozens every week. those bags used to come down an aa pier and were connected, as expected..not anymore.
