American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

The number will be higher then 175 WeAAs, in ATL alone we have 120 TWU fleet. I'm fully aware they will at a minimum mention this is some sort of communication and have slowly been showing this to the membership here. I personally find the tactic rather childish but it is a card to play and this is a high stakes poker game. We need Doyle Brunson at the table for us.

STL + SJU alone is over 200.

Not sure where NYer is getting his numbers.

Sadly, it's exactly that type of mentality that cost LUS fleet over 20 stations back in 2005 to keep catering. Not that I want to see it happen, but I do find it to be ironic that catering is on the chopping block now. Imagine that we could have kept a lot of stations staffed before and after this new CBA, whenever it happens.

Thanks for the info; I couldn’t remember the number. I do recall you & RobbedAgain both being directly impacted by it.

My opinion is not against my fellow mechanics, this whole process at times feels like we are getting played by both sides. I just want a chance to vote. The difference between SWA and American, is we have never gone through the bankruptcy process. If it takes this long to get anything done, with a healthy company. I don't see how they would move Parker any more that a union that has size to it!

Believe me, the independence you have is not the company or AMFA, it is that you negotiate only for Mechanic and related. There have been instances where the company offers something to the mechanics and not Fleet only to have the company pull back, because of the Fleet negotiators demand what the company offers. The mechanics have had their sick days only half paid and every other group received full pay. There are instances where on Social Media where Fleet Service individuals have stated they should be compensated as much as the mechanic minus license premium. Something like this makes mechanic's second-class members in a union ran on the majority, no matter what the rest of the industry supports.

Never said I or we are special, all I ever wanted was a different path in my representation and a
break from the AFL-CIO political regime.

Just wish you could give better reasons why you want that different path besides repeating tired old lines from the past.

But I will admit you saying some FSC out there has said they think they should be paid as much as you is a new and good one.

Listen Buck you steer me in the direction of that nit wit and I’ll open up a can of WeAAsles whoop ass on him like you’ve never seen.

Perhaps because I am a tired old man that has put up with the Industrial Union for 35 years, Tulsa is a closed shop, if the TWU would have done something for the mechanics there would not have been an AMFA card drive. Over time there has been a definite loss of compensation among my peers at the other major airlines. While TWU Fleet has ridden the top or near the top of their class and craft, while the mechanic rode the Marianas Trench

Another item I am not a Socialist, it is why mechanics at least in Tulsa that I work around believe that part of our struggle is why the TWU must have a Closed Shop. There is an obvious difference in some mechanics from say JFK where Industrial Unionism is understood. What would happen if the closed shop was switched to open? Would everyone stop paying dues, doubtful but the TWU would really have to earn its keep. The TWU is more concerned with collecting dues to pay for their politics of the Left

I am not against the other work groups, more power to them but don't drag me down to make their gains.

Even if you whipped his ass the damage is done and I am not talking about me.

I will tell you this about AMFA they talk a good game. If they are at a healthy company they can get you a descent contract. But if your company gets in trouble they will fight to the last day. Instead of working with management. They have no strike fund. Most of the dues money goes to the lawfirm Seham. Everytime you suggest to try to shop for a new lawfirm you will be shot down. It takes forever to get a full blown contract done. You guys would be better off, starting an independent mechanics union, ran by American Airlines mechanics, plus whatever work group you want to put in there. Just like our pilots have SWAPA.
