No the medical is not the only topic, and my apologies if I came off that way but imo it is item #1 on the IAM side and they have a 50% say on if a contract comes back to the membership for a vote. So while Mntc outsourcing and pt % are larger issues on the TWU side, I think the hold up will be the medical.

I understand it is a major issue for the LUS people. But to be perfectly honest, I do read it hear more often than not from many a LUS member.
And you said it, I didn't...that the medical will be the hold up....So here we have the minority holding up the majority.

I don’t think I’ve read the Unions use the term “must have” either?

We want it is a better way of putting it for both sides. The Company wants it, the IAM wants to keep it and the TWU wants to get it.

And actually Metal is right and I think given a choice the Company would much rather have the outsourcing over the extra Medical cost any day of the week?

Nothing personal to you or Steve but where did you guys read anything officially that says the IAM Medical is going to be “THE” holdup? I think the outsourcing is a bigger deal myself.

No of course there is nothing "official." This is the sentiment I get when reading comments on this forums.
I think the outsourcing is a bigger deal to the TWU as US already has the higher outsourcing percentage. It looks like LAA outsourcing would increase in all areas.

This has been an ongoing mission for many years. There has been similar legislation introduced as part of the FAA Reauthorization Bill over the years, but it usually didn't make it into the final law.

The TWU, and by extension, the One World of Labour Council brought attention to the outsourcing of maintenance by all of the Oneworld alliance partners since 2011. The hope was to show how all this affects everyone around the world and it wasn't just a US problem. There was even an attempt to make this into a National Security issue since foreign workers would have access to planes from the US.

more power to them. it's also a wise move to invoke national security issues. keep repeating that issue to silence and weaken republicans in congress that would usually jump to go against anything union-sponsored. those same republicans that cling to 'national security' for other agenda.

i'm afraid that going the 'safety route'....well, unless we get a rash of crashes; the american public is more concerned about cheap air fares and the airlines want to accommodate their customers.

I’m that David guy Steve. I went with the WeAAsles when we didn’t know what to make of Social Media and if Management might be vindictive.
