American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

We are entering mediation. We are going to get hosed. The association was holding out on some issues that they felt mediation might turn in our favor. This might go the distance. Can the membership wait it out for another three years? I'm sure the Association can because the money tree will still be producing for them while we sit and wait for.................
3 years is probably a very good and accurate guess. If I am not mistaken we are somewhere around 2-3 years since we started mediation. I do not know the exact dates but it feels as if it was about half of total 6 years. With mediation it will take longer than the previous meeting schedules you guys had going before. Having a third party also having to clear their schedule for your nego's sessions is just another obstacle that will have to be cleared to get meetings set. Not to mention all the holidays coming up.

700 asked me to provide this to you with his regards. It looks like another one slips through your fingers there Tim.

Happy Retirement there Brother Gruber.

Who cares? That election is still pending, believe it or not.

The Deputy director of the Secretary of Labor is investigating that field office. The investigation froze the "statement of reasons" of the OLMS field office in my case. LMAO. Even IAM officers could be charged.

BTW, Gruber was booted by my complaint saying his retirement was a breach of the constitution.
Let's let some things start falling into place. Gruber's 'retirement' won't be the last.

And the field office, well, let's just say that Uncle Donnie is coming through after I contacted his SOL and Brother Atkinson put on a strong case that triggered the Deputy Director's and OIG investigation of that field office who might have been 'too soft' on the IAM. Also, according to our key people in the upwards of the Labor department, the DOL also mobilized on the 14th of this month and reinterpreted DFR laws and said that the field offices have been too soft. So, since I invoked my civil rights, you can be sure that any grievance I have that is not 'attended to' will be moved to a 3rd party 'quickly'. LMAO.

At any rate, I'm assuming that the Deputy Director and OIG office will order against the DC field office in their investigation which we claimed was grossly negligent since much of the information we gave them wasn't ruled upon. Like I said, 'the statement of reasons' have been FROZEN, due to the pending federal case.

Heads may roll. If so, that would be pretty cool, bro!

Rest easy though Weez, I'm done with the IAM.

As an aside, I conducted a new poll on my massive FB group about triggering a new election for a union. Interestingly, most members want to vote on whether to go with the TWU, IAM, Association, or New Union.

Consider all of the above thirdhand hearsay

Yes let's get rid of all LAA managers and replace with America West management. This will be like everything else we have got from them SUBSTANDARD.

Sorry man but being completely honest here. I could give a rats ass about DGS, UGE, McGee, Wee wee, or Pee pee. But of course you’re going to keep talking about it for however many years here on this AA thread.

Hope the IAM and TWU can snatch more and more and more and more of them.

You might not care, but you should.

- i remember the 2001 contract very well. my local president told me that protocol calls for asking for only 3% over delta. well, that's what what we got (easy vote after 9-11) and us air at that time, had just filed their 2 bk in 3 years, or something like that?

what i'm trying to say, is that aa was always higher paid and us air, well, no comment.

us air was our competition. ua and delta were also our competition. we blew them away. i worked for aa, you did, others who post here did. in the 90s, we were the delta and today with us air mngt., we are behind delta and united.

they're letting go of supervisors, i know of 2, BOTH legacy aa, let go over the past few days. each had over 30 years/level 3s probably earning over $80k a year. this is good news for al, not necessarily good news for the company as a whole, going forward. another manager said as it looks as though they are targeting laa mngt.
The US Air mgmt does not seem any better than Arpey or Carty. A friend of mine working line transfer support told me the computers were removed from the tugs and they have to google the flights for gate changes. Kelly Moore is gone and that was an error. It's a far cry from when Crandall ran this company. Hardly had any CSM's compared to now and things operated well. When a mgmt team comes in I guess it is kind of normal to dump the previous groups people for your own. I'd just keep the best people.

We have been in Mediation for 3 years. We produced one rejected T/A. So it will probably be January for some dates with the mediator.

You are so interested in maintaince and our man power that you for get your group what’s to keep those company’s from taking over mainline fleet service then maybe you will give a rat . The twu unionized American eagle so your wishing for company’s to take your jobs be careful what you wish for.

unfortunately, it just cost 900 union workers their job as United Airlines laid them all off and replaced them with United Ground which will start at $12 and top out at $15 after 8 years.

Point of clarification on all of this since I am from the affected hub:

The people affected in all of this was the wheelchair pushers; people that take the bags off the belts; greeters (I call them that because they assist our CSR's); people that collect and move the baggage tubs; and lav people was the vendors from ABM. (ABM was the third vendor in 5 years or so) The aircraft cleaners and SkyCaps are handled by AirServ & Prime Flight. They are not involved in this. The contracts for this services was handed over again and again before by different outfits, and it was up for renewal. So IMHO, to cut off drives by SEIU (the fight for 15), UA brought in UA Ground to do all of that work and hold off on the revolving door of vendors. I don't know what their scale will be, but I think it it would be much better than they had, plus they will be getting other things like flight benefits; insurance; etc. And paying union dues as well. (I don't know if they will be members of LL914 or not - or they will have their own LL. This wasn't explained yet. I have to go to next months LL meeting for more info) So a win for Sito with more duespayers; and the company with the bad service from the vendors. So I think that most of these people will be hired back to their old jobs, but at something better than what they were making.

I had a feeling that this was going to happen anyway. Our hub general manager talked about this at meetings, because his boss moved the Catering Division over to the Airport Operations Group. (And the union is trying to organize Catering as well.....we will see what happens on that front.) And I think that this will be under that umbrella as well. Hell, he used to run the hub.

Hardly had any CSM's compared to now and things operated well...

Funny how that works! Less management sends a tacit message tonworkers that they’re trusted- 99% of the time they rise up to that.

Being top heavy with managers does just the opposite; it foster a learned helplessness that can topple an operation.

Normally i would give a wise ass answer but becausr its peoples lives and livelyhood i wont. i just dont know why you keep beating this dead horse, bottom line we are one airline and when we have a joint contract ill be senior to you .I honestly rather be your age with your seniority but a fact is a fact and parker is our boss thats it
