American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

and tim is pointing to his standalone contract, saying he is fine and 'we' need serious improvements.

whom is fighting or provoking whom?

for sure, the merger has and will increase revenues and income. we will all share in that. up to this point, i can't argue some laa fscs who claim lus have benefited just a bit more.

the explanation you need to generate understanding is needing to sell enhancements in other areas to lus in lieu of the writing on the wall.

it's not me or you nor the twu that wants to take away their insurance. it's their former bosses at america west and us air.

In some areas (financial), they're ahead, but they entered this process with that advantage and didn't gain it because of the merger. In work rules, we have advantages, at least from our point of view, but contract language isn't as sexy as dollars.

They definitely have more to lose and we have more to gain and that dynamic is something that should have been addressed earlier in the process. We should have understood each other's point of view and history. As it stands, this process is being governed by emotions and that is not in our favor.

We have a winner. Finally some said it besides me. No one side will be the clear winner in this, the company has decided to split it down the middle. Part of that middle ground is what we all saw on jetnet.

i'd say that is very debatable.

they entered this process (i'll assume the current assoc negotiations with the company) after getting the standalone.

did the standalone bring them up to our (laa) wages?no merger, who's wages would they have been brought up to, aeroflot?

It's a technicality, but there is no current proposal on the table.

The airline shared information but some of that information has not been memorialized on paper so we couldn't vote on this even if we wanted. I suspect some of the things they've announced will be enhanced by the time they get to make an official counter, or soon thereafter.

The only thing our guys have to do is make a phone call, and accept it and draw it up, this could happen all within 24 hours.

Yes, they entered the JCBA negotiations after the standalone but they really didn't address their issues expecting that to happen during the JCBA. Their standalone only really addressed a few issues but not all they wanted to accomplish most of which would be easier to achieve as part of a JCBA.

Without a merger, neither side would have been able to achieve what we'll eventually end up within a JCBA.

Until their comprehensive counter-proposal is officially presented there are still gains to be made off their current publicized positions. There's more squeezing to be done.

Im guessing Alex believes Sito again. Last year, Sito said that I had no support for International President and that a rerun wouldnt happen. That all changed late August when the dol ruling for a new election forced Sito to back off a prior pledge. Now, Sito is in a predicament because ive been in communications with the dol and ive done 9 successful cases in a row and, this case is surely going to end up being rerun in April 2019.

You might say, who cares? Well, Sitos biggest support group is lus mechanics who crush me. He guaranteed them he wouldnt get rid of lus health. So i believe he will stand down in negotiations until april 2019. That date isnt official but based on my conversations it is most likely. The dol will most likely make an announcement once again in August. The TWU may want this information or i guess Alex can keep being a dick and think im an arsehole (i confess i am) and swallowing all Sitos BS.

Tim do you know if Sito is trying to keep the 175 work with mainline.I dont think it is ever really discussed. It is lot of jobs

So he'll be campaigning when he should be negotiating. There has got to be a better way.

NYer..

according to tim and other lus posters, the issues that you talk about (i'm assuming work rules) aren't as critical to them as they are to you...for any argument's sake and especially this argument's sake. lets count how many lus say they want this to drag on for years? so much for the mystery unsettled issues.

apprx. $4/hr raise, 5th vc week; ummm, these brought them up to laa levels?...throw in improved scope (7 weekly flights), $1500 signing bonus for F/T and keeping their insurance.

i'd say not too many lus felt like you do now. some laa didn't and don't understand why there wasn't a stink made by the twu as far as us matching their holidays..etc.?
