Association Participates in Mediated Negotiations
October 31, 2018

Brothers and Sisters,
The TWU-IAM Association met with American Airlines October 30 in Dallas, TX for mediated negotiations under the supervision of the National Mediation Board. The purpose of this first mediated session was to bring the Federal mediators up to speed on the status of our negotiations.

Areas covered were compensation, healthcare, retirement, work protections (scope) and the remaining open language issues. The Association clearly restated our demands that our work is protected in any final agreement. We also reiterated our positions on the other economic issues. The meeting was cordial and produced final TAs on MLS and Fleet holidays as well as M&R Qualifications.

The Association held firm that the number of negotiating sessions was inadequate and that we need more frequent meetings. The Company did not object and the mediators set forth the following schedule:

*By conference call November 15 and December 14.

*Face to face meetings January 15-17, January 29-31, February 6-8 and February 12-14.

Our objective has been and remains to bring to the membership the best contract in the airline industry.

Anything less is unacceptable!

Fraternally,
Your Association Executive Negotiating Committee

the company strategy is paying off. Obviously, they needed a mediator to sit down and make a few things clear with Sito's iam pension demands.
The company may have to allow a choice, and that will be fair, but Fly says the company wont concede and really does want out of the pension.
At any rate, the new schedule suggest that things are close and worth trying to hammer out.
Vote Now!

If it is close there will be painful concessions for the US side, painful indeed

nah. In worst case scenario its a $7,000-$10,000 cost positive for the 500 fulltime lus on the 100% family.

For me, its cost positive from $13,000-$20,000 and a goodie depending upon how much double time i work.
But if i work no overtime, im looking at a $13,000 yearly boost absorbing the extra $900 i would have to pay per year on my medical in 2020. But another 2.5% pay raise in 2019 pays for that and more.

So what did they really talk about and who from the association was there?

Ah and “Mr” Nelson shows us his true colors. Too bad ya can’t vote in it even if they put it out. Nope your name will not be on the list at your local lodge to put your check mark in that square.

You can always hand out fliers across the street though.

Who was that guy who told us they would throw everything out and start over when it got to this point?

Hey yea I remember that. Who was that guy? And hey rat do you remember that guy that was going to post the Company’s “last” offer on here Months ago?

Whatever happened to that Kook?

You know I don’t know what happened to that guy, some make so many declarations on what’s going to happen it difficult to keep it straight

His declarations are always artfully crafted to indict the Association, or specifically the IAM....
It all depends on his red herring, or "fear de jour" as to what predictions he will make on any given day. I think he just throws chit against the wall in mass quantities, hoping some will stick!

I will predict this though-- he will NOT vote on anything! Isn't it ironic that he's calling for a vote though... hmmm
