The vote will be on January 3rd from what I understand. The Eboard recommended the salary hikes to retain its current officers (Sounds like CEO's at companies). The delegates at the convention were led to believe that several AGC's were going to step down because $125,000 wasn't high enough. So to retain our expert AGC's it was needed to jack them up to around $150,000. Basically the referendum will be to equalize their AGC pay with the AGC' Mechanics in DL 142. Those AGC's have a current salary of around $147,000 plus another increase next year CPI that brings them over $150,000. The Eboard caught some heat on this from some workers on the ramp so they decided to be silent on this and have a quick vote during the holiday week of around Christmas, only to find out that they were violating their bylaws and had to send a notice to the members at their last known address. So the vote was pushed back to January 3rd, still a holiday week and very few will be voting.
There was a conference call with many committee members and they were told to make sure they bring out all of their conventioneers otherwise if they don't push this salary hike that there would be no more booze parties.
At any rate, after the conference call, it was agreed upon not to talk about this but to gather support by word of mouth to key supporters. If the members found out, they would mostly be pissed off and it would spike the "No" vote.
Whatever the case, I just post this to inform people of what I heard. I believe the source is credible but maybe it's all urban myth. . I am not a member, thank God! And this wage spike is what I warned everyone about last year and Klemm and Baskett denied it. I hate being right all the time. But it will show the distinction a lot better from the new "No Frills" union with $30 dues and this large Corporate dues guzzling IAM.
