"I can understand the dislike of scabs, but unfortunately the U.S. Supreme Court. That ruling came as a result of the Flight Attendants' strike against TWA. Basically, as I remember, the court ruled that that when a scab is hired in as a "permanent replacement" it is illegal for a company to lay them off or terminate them, regardless of seniority standing.
That decision set the labor movement back 40 years or more and since Reagan glorified scabs in the PATCO strike, which made companys feel better about hiring scabs, the right to strike has become more of a tool for companys than union workers.
Bottom line: If you choose to wait for the scabs to be ousted from NWA, you better plan on never returning."
