No one cares. The CLT F/As voted. Wait- half voted. A little less than 1/5 of the base expressed support for her. She is a leech. Sucking and sucking. She serves you well. I fly extra with you CLT gals....well don't DARE say a word about AFA bitching. I will tear you a new one.For the record I don't know Ann.
I think this could be an interesting thread. So we don't make this personal let's refer to Ann as the "Incumbent".
EVERY union thread I have ever read is filled with venom and rancor for whomever is currently in power. This is somewhat human nature that there is at least envy of the Incumbent.
Today, Unions are much like the Federal Governement, bloated, ineffective and inefficient and unable or unwilling to hear the voice of the common citizen. Now we have the "Tea Party Movement" out in the real world. I'm not prepared to debate the merits of their views but rather to point out that there is a lesson in their movement that union members should take note of.
Take a look at what the Obama Administration is doing directly and indirectly to discredit the movement. Yet it continues to grow despite their best efforts. Do the tea partiers have a majority point of view? I'd say more like 10% and here is why that's important. In a national election. 10% decides the election!
This is the lesson for organized labor. Want the reserve issues addressed? One Quarter of the reserves rise up as "Tea partiers" within the AFA and maybe MF & AC will begin to pay attention to issues that affect all Flight Attendants not just the ones with 387 years seniority.
The message needs to be yelled out loud and clear. It's our Union, The union is the people not the officers. If the officers don't represent the majority viewpoint to management, the the "AFA Tea partiers" need to speak out until they are heard.
The Obama Administration is crappping in their pants as the Tea party movement is reaching a size that could cost his party the House, Senate and eventually the White House in 2012. Somebody needs to rise up and challenge the AFA business as usual folks and take back the union and put it on solid ground

Can anyone tell us what the total # of f/a that voted vs how many are in the base? what was the final count for each candidate that ran for President, VP & Sec. ? CLT AFA site does not state the final voting results except who won.all I can say is Well said. If it is ok with you i would quote you in other union forms (phl) comes to mind

I think most CLT f/a's are apathetic. As long as their base stays open and the paychecks continue they really don't care, nor do they believe that their union can make a difference. Allow a dog to get beat enough then it won't fight back. Word has it the CLT incumbant didn't stand up for the f/a's. Took whatever the company said. No fight left in her. And if what has been said about the lack of representation down there is true, well then I can't blame them. Beside BOSTON, non of the other bases that are left give a rip about the avg. f/a. Only time DCA spoke up was when it adverely affected the DCA base w/ displacements. Did he ever speak up for LGA or BOS or even PIT when they were given the AX? NOPE. How about PHL? That President collects 105 INTERNATIONAL PAY and he is not even grandfathered in to that option. Good ol Cindy Simone said it is ok so he gets it. Why hasn't the folks in Philly spoken up about that? Apathy there too? Maybe. And so we're back to CLT election results......Well if only 1/5th of the base voted in favor of a particular candidate and of the base half didn't bother to vote then it tell me a few things.
One the By-Laws of the AFA are flawed as there should have been a run off between the top two vote getters
Two, if only half voted then the Union frankly is irrevelent which is a far bigger problem.

In AFA, the dues went up and the representation by the presidents (left) on east side down. Just my observation and humble opinion. That is why I was curious at to the #'s for CLT.
............AGAIN????................How many YEARS does that make, Terri? You value your longevity, but no one else's? An election is just that. People had the opportiunity to vote, and they voted.
DEAL WITH IT.
Most CLT F/A's apathetic?
Well, little darling, we have bounced our fair share of lousy reps. And we will do it when our LEC is ineffective...which it is not. Our LEC work thier asses off.
I don't know who you're talking to but maybe you should look to your own reps in your base before pointing fingers.
and it is my business when clt is voting me in a crappy contract because...........
