You sure you want the answer? Since the blame game is SOOO HELPFUL here goes.

Every F/A employed and still working since 2001 who has NOT voted in every election.
Every F/A employed and still working since 2001 who has NOT attended a least one meeting per year.

If you had "Crappy" negotiators then see the above two reasons. Unions just like in general elections get the government/Leadership they deserve. Just because an individual is willing to be a union rep doesn't mean they are qualified to do so. Of course if you have less than 50% participation in the process then you're left with those willing to take the lead.

George W Bush was WILLING to be President, Barack Obama is WILLING to be President. Does that mean that either is qualified to perform the duties of Leader of the Free World? Again in both elections, the winning candidate was "I don't care you pick because I'm sitting on my assets watching Law & Order re-runs instead of voting". When Mr/Ms Apathy consistently win elections then the problem isn't with the leadership it's with the rank and file.

So you can blame Ann, Teri, John and whoever else you like but before you do I'd suggest a long look in the mirror and ask yourself, "As an AFA member in good standing what have I contributed to the union?"

The union is a joke...regardless of what base... we have done whatever this company has asked us to do over the past 15 years because we "have it in our blood"..or we "love the time off"...so we all do whatever we have to do in order to keep this "oh so special job'/...PLEASE....haveing flight attendants on food stamps is hardly the glamerous life...and believe it or not some FAs qualify....wake up people...this job is not envied by anyone thats not doing it...people apologize to me when I tell them what I do...they would "never" be a flight attendant.....It doesnt matte if Anns in or whoever else...its just a position filled..and just a side note...ive been based in almost every base (not by choice) and Charlotte is no more(or less) sheepish then the others....

Why has the membership, many here over twenty years, have paid thousands and thousands of dollars (each personally) to the UNION, only to get one of the WORSE CONTRACTS in the industry, every tentative has had CONCESSIONS, dating back over 25 years?

What percentage voted in the PHL election a few years ago, and how much of that was due to seeing the name of a guy on the ballot that used to write a funny newsletter? So, are those E-Lines as amusing as everyone was hoping for?

Awhile back there was a crew on our van getting royally screwed by scheduling and after their numerous phone calls to the CLT LEC, I called my LEC to see if they could offer some advice. I haven't spoken to Teddy in quite a while. I do know that F/A's did call her long after she left the job. Whether they still do I couldn't tell you.

My "politician" answers???

I asked Sky High the following:

These are not difficult questions yet all we heard about was the Worst Contract and how professional negotiators should be hired and my question what does professional negotiators have to do with member apathy? This "politician" is quite confused as if the members weren't home picking their noses instead of being active in key issues that impact their income and quality of work life MAYBE their would be elected union leaders of like mind who favor professional negotiators.

Alas we'll never know as apparently no once cares a whole lot. Say what you will about the East Pilots but at least they rose up and grabbed the bull by the testicles and are fighting for what they think is right and fair. IMO Reagan, both Bush's are not the reason for the decline in unions as member apathy is doing far more

Some of us know Ann and Glenda to be educated intelligent people And saw the challengers as folks who simply hated flying and wanted out. Your real issues or complaints should be about Mike Flores, who seems to feel that he is more an executive without credentials than a union leader. Flores, that is your real problem.

I know some here were not overly fond of Teddy, but you have to admit she had the big boys crapping in their Gucci Loafers at CCY. She'd eat the TFB alive and spit out their bones. That's one of the reasons Hemminway and Harbison kept their jobs.

US AFA needs to find another Tedy Xidas! A nail spitting, smart & intelligent person who will stand up and be counted and represent the F/A group with zeal, honor, integrity and courage. Who will it be? Certainly none in office now!!!

The person at the top needs to be media savy and the "Face" of US Flight Attendants. If you can master the media and keep yourself in the public eye you can become a force to be reckoned with. One part Televangelist and one part natural leader. AFA IMO should be using tools like social media to raise awareness. A group of volunteers to become active bloggers driving the AFA message home.

The greatest compliment to a union leader is when a guy like Jerry Glass comes up with an offer to in effect "Buy Off" that leader. Teddy knew it was coming and regardless who or what you believe the simple fact is that if she wasn't effective and a huge thorn in their side he wouldn't have made the offer.

You should have seen what the company wanted to really offer you, Teddy is the only labor leader that CCY and Glass feared.

Your lucky she was around at the last minute when Perry Hayes was in charge as he was willing to sell your group out.

And the membership did ratify, you all could have voted no.
