Anti-vaccine idiocy

You wouldn't like Costa Rica.  First off, it is a democracy, not a third world dictatorship.  Costa Rica has cradle to the grave medical benefits.  They have a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S., a longer life expectancy, and universal education.  How can they afford all that?  They are the one nation in the Western Hemisphere that does not have a standing army.  They abolished it back the late 1940's.
I know that Jim. I'm in the process of evaluating Costa Rica and Ecuador and right now Ecuador is winning. I do plan to take extended vacations there prior to any decision. Nothing you've told me I don't already know. Really the decision will likely come down to whether I prefer the mountains (Ecuador) or the beach (Costa Rica)

Point remains the same, why put up with the high cost here for diminishing Liberty when you can have more Liberty cheaper. Ecuador isn't a dictatorship either. Their President is Rafael Correa, a US educated Economist.

1. The government denies that vaccines cause autism.

2. The government always lies.

3. Therefore, vaccines cause autism.

Is that the logic at work here?  I'd prefer to see actual evidence that correlates any kind of vaccine to the incidence of autism with any degree of statistical significance before I just as stupidly assume that I'm being lied to.  The beautiful thing about conspiracy theories and those who purport them is that lack of evidence of any claim is considered evidence enough.

Is there a non-zero chance that vaccines can in some way detectable or not contribute to or exacerbate autistic tendencies in children?  Yes.  Is there any possibility whatsoever that this is known by the government, media, and entire medical field and that a vast conspiracy is in place to deny it?  Yes.  Do I think either are likely enough to keep my own kids from getting vaccinated in a safe and proven manner?  Absolutely not.  That doesn't make me an uncritical sheep, it makes me someone who's done his best to weigh the possibilities and outcomes and decided he's better off not letting his children needlessly become vectors for eradicable epidemic disease.

Do you have children?  If so are they vaccinated?  If they are then I guess you're being told what to think.  If they are not then you decided to listen to the anti-vaccine crowd.  Either way you are being told what to think.

No I don't have children. If I did I would look at the decision to vaccinate on an individual basis. For example I don't get a flu shot myself as I feel that the risk outweighs the reward. Polio different story, same for tetanus.

As a rule I don't like new vaccines. I like to wait and see what the longer term effects are before subjecting myself to them..

I'm surprised you'd ever move to any country that mandates firearm registration and does not guarantee private ownership by law.

In Ecuador civilians can't even own long guns, do they really have "more Liberty" down there, and if so what arms to they secure it with?

That is so true.

Then why did you call both countries "third world dictatorships?"  Just a touch of "I'm white, U.S. citizen; therefore I can label others whatever I want", perhaps?

So you would get them polio but not measles?  I think most schools would not buy that.

What risks are you talking about?

Good thing your parents didn't have that attitude when it came to the polio vaccine.  The long term affect from that one was not getting polio.

YES and I think your point is excellent.

Q:How does the Government say "F*#K You"
A: Trust US

I have no earthly idea what cause what to whom or why.

What I DO know is that it's damned funny that we have an "Ebola Crisis" right around the time we get an announcement that a vaccine is near.

Ron Paul may be wrong about everything except his quote, "Truth is Treason in the Empire of Lies". That, he nailed

If GOP hadn't cut the buget that Obama agreed to and signed, we could have had a vaccine on the shelf.

This is why you visit BEFORE you sell off your "Stuff". By visit I mean spend a month there and get a real taste of what things are like. I'm OK with the gun policy only because as a retiree I wouldn't be much of a fighter. I say that now but after a visit I might not feel the same. I'm very impressed with President Correa and the turn around Ecuador has made. His term is up 2017 and frankly that worries me as he cannot stand for another term. I'm starting research early so I can make an informed choice that I will not regret.

I honestly don't know. I'm old enough I had the original Salk Vaccine and I'm glad I did. There wasn't a real good measles (if any) when I got them as a kid. I know of no side effects. Flu Vaccine different story. You can contract Guillain Barre syndrome, which is no laughing matter as I know someone who did. Also this particular vaccine is often ineffective against different strains of the flu.

Like I said before there is information that points to cause and effect with vaccines and autism. Clear Cut hard evidence?? NOPE! Just because Big Pharma and the FDA tell you it's safe and a good idea doesn't mean it is. Remember Big Pharma came up with the less addictive version of Morphine. It was called Heroin

And like I said before using that logic I could say that vaccines prevent autism.

The disease has been around sine the 1970's.  What you should be saying is what took them so long.
