Anti-vaccine idiocy

Did you read your own link?

All citizens and legal residents get access to the government-run system known as Caja

Or not! There is a robust private sector system in both countries, in addition to the public health system.

The disease has been around sine the 1970's.  What you should be saying is what took them so long.

When Big Pharma has the deck so stacked in its favor with a former Monsanto Exec at the helm of the FDA any scenario is plausible. With any vaccine there is some risk of a reaction that can be fatal. Generally speaking the overall benefits outweigh the risks.

As I get older I'll need to reevaluate the decision to get a flu shot. I am as a rule what I'll call "skeptical of ANY medicine, yet I'm not into the natural healing ideas either. I think as a society we are are over medicated. The notion that there is a "pill" for everything is not the total answer.

Well this would be funnier if were a whole lot less true. I agree that there is not a Bogeyman behind every single thing that transpires. However that said there are a great many nefarious types out there to keep the Bogeyman in business.

Which is good idea.  As you get older the chances of something like the flu putting you in the hospital or even killing you becomes greater.  Much greater than getting Guillain Barre syndrome.

My point was and remains that in most circumstances my decision is MINE, not one of government.

I don't think the anti vaccine crowd is totally wrong. Frankly they IMO suck at math.

Let's concede for debate purposes their is a direct causal link between some vaccines and autism.
If I give one million doses of a vaccine and end up with 300 cases of autism is the public good served?

When it came to polio in the 50's and 60's there was no question as everybody knew someone with the disease. Now it's less clear cut and the rigged deck of crony capitalism makes for conspiracy nuts and skeptics. For example the new Ebola "CZAR" was a key figure in the Solyndra ;oans and subsequent bankruptcy. So is this person credible and believable? Judge for yourself.

Let's not concede.  Using the same logic I can say that the reason the majority of people DON'T have autism is because of vaccines

Vaccines prevent disease that can seriously affect your health or even kill you.  Seems rather clear cut to me.

Taken in that narrow construct I'd have to agree.

However, this nation was founded on the basic premise of individual liberty. So then in regards to the "public Good" supersede those individual rights?

This to me is a BIG issue and one that for me at least no good answer.

That would explain why others have been unable to establish a causal link.

The more intertwined with Government the more suspect the industry will become. In some ways it almost doesn't matter that he made up his findings. What matters is the public perception of Big Pharma, Public health officials, doctors and on the list goes. If they lose much more credibility we may see diseases crop up in epidemic proportions that we haven't seen a xase of in years.

BTW, thanks for the link.

The government does not require vaccines to protect you

It requires them to protect everyone else from your stupidity

That, like it or not, is a court tested and nearly universally accepted concept

Why are there speed limits?

Or a bazillion other laws you can think of
