So the Sunday after Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days of the year, is over. There was all this talk of work slowdowns for sunday and I havnt heard anything. Hmmmmm. Can anyone expand on this?

Half the PHL ramp didnt show up for work on the afternoon shift sunday. Pulled 23 guys from catering to work ramp. Short haul flights were not catered. Everyone that hasnt a doctor excuse for missing work should be fired..this is ridiculous. But MR. Criellin should also be thinking heavily on adding some bodies to this light staff as well...

The rest of the evening went pretty well I.m told

In CLT (from everything I could tell) things were very normal. The underpaid & overworked employees continued to serve our customers.
Without any kind of thanks from any one in management. Only a shift manager walking around to make sure everyone busting their you know what.

P.S. Flt 834 still missing most of bags to 1800 bank.

So what is the point about the shift manager? Are you looking for more managers to be walking around or none at all? A shift managers job is to be making sure the operation is running smoothly and handling any problems that arise. If operations were running normally it sounds like the shift managers in CLT have done their job despite being understaffed and just as underpaid as the agent group.

Been told expect same thing tonight..Monday november 29th. no catering for short hauls..trying to have acft precatered frm the upline stations..xtra beverages and especially ice. Catering personel being pulled to work the ramp gain tonight  i

Unfortunately, the only thing these guys showed the company was that the operation can go on without them....be it a little behind, but it went on!

Working PHL to PBI........ no catering in PHL tonight unless it was a "buy on board" flight.
So I went across the hall to B1 (Dallas flight) and traded the crew 4 stacks of cups for 2 bags of ice.
Pretty fair trade I'd say......and both flights left on time. 🙂

Sunday's performance figures:

Just ask 700 to explain. When management is out there trying to be visible and in the operation, they are harrassing the employees. When managment tries something new to increase productivity, they are told there is no manpower for that and it is not there job.
However when things are going bad and management wants to negotiate a more effective contract with least restrictions, or worst yet, get rid of a classification, then it is managements fault for not doing there job of......being visible and in the operation and utlilizing their resources. Go figure.

I've heard that same diatribe many times before and he's one of many on here that are a microcosim of our world today. They're from the "It's not my fault, don't blame me, I make no mistakes and can take no personal responsibility" generation that gives the rest of this country a bad name and black eye.

First of all I don't work the ramp and in none of my posts have I ever said that a shift manager or a member of management walking around checking on the operation is harassment.

We have Negotiated givebacks since 1989, have you forgotten that?

Have you forgotten that during the contract talks from 1995 till 1999 US was making profits yet the M&R employees were not getting raises nor was the company willing to settle on a new agreement? No retropay and more concessions.

Then more concessions in 2002 and 2003, for $1.2 Billion per year for two years now, only to see Executives who do not know how to run an airline yet get rewarded for their failures:

Messrs Wolf, Gangwal and Nagin: $35 Million
Siegel and Cohen: $6 million.

Now lets talk about Leadership, the company has the audacity to ask for a 23% paycut, yet the judge gives the employees a 21% paycut and our illustrious leader who makes $425,000 in base salary, more then B6 and WN's leader's salary, takes not ONE PENNY cut, now that is REAL LEADERSHIP, NOT!

Lets see non-contract employees get a 4% raise in April and a 5% paycut, wow, that is real fair too.

I would gladly give 5% paycut if earlier this year I got a 4% raise.

Don't ever put words on this board saying something I have never said!

And I never have seen in my years at this company, the management willing to open or settle a union CBA when the company is making record profits.

It works both ways.

So whats new ! Half the PHL ramp doesnt show on any given Eagles Sunday !
Just fire the DELETED! If PHL works at 20% productivity every Sunday if you get rid of all the deadwood whats are you losing? Nothing, you will still have 20% productivity minus the payroll. Everyone especially the CUSTOMERS are sick of the B.S. that goes on with thr PHL ramp every Sunday. Offer the jobs to furloghed or future furloghed emplyees whom want to pay their bills and work !

Maybe you should go volunter to go work in PHL and see the problems first hand before passing judgement.
