Apa, Chq, And The Emb-170

Too bad Arpey doesn't have the stones to play hard ball with Boeing the way Crandall did with Airbus and the A300...

It has nothing to do with the cost of the airlplanes. It has everything to do with the labor rates. Why not fly a 50 seat full of high/er paying customers and keep all your labor costs down (not just pilots), instead of flying a 100 seater with 50 more low revenue passengers. It doesn't make sense.

But aren't you doing a disservice to those 50 "higher paying" passengers by jamming them onto a regional jet for a 2+ hour segment?

Does the Exec Plat WANT to be stuck on a RJ for that length of time? More than likely the answer is no.

You also stimulate demand by NOT having a RJ operating those longer thinner segments.

The E-170/190 is mainline equipment!

To be honest I do not think you will see AA or AE fly it. But if you want to act like that it is not Mainline Equipment until it is flown by the mainline. AA's scope clause prevents it as of current times but no one knows what the future will bring.
