Pay attention to the paragraph where the consultant says the TWU is the most rational and forward thinking union and how it is at the end of the rope.
That statement says alot as there is no question the TWU has given this company just about everything they ever desired, even at the expense of the members wallets and purses!

Sidebar about the two consultants quoted.... Both can always be counted on to give a good sound byte. IIRC, Mann has done a lot of work on behalf of unions, including APA, and Mike Boyd works mostly with airports.

Both also have a known disdain for AA, and Ted Reed knows that wel. He used to cover AA for either the Dallas Morning Snooze or the Fort Worth Startlegram back in the early 90's.

I suppose the TWU did not give AMR enough in terms of concessions. I can tell you as a TWU member that I certainly got hosed more than enough.

We all gave up a lot to keep our pensions and keep our company from being controlled by its creditors.

And I want it back just as much as the rest of you, but pushing for everything in one go is not realistic considering the economy and AA's continuing losses.

AA is not the federal government. It can't just start printing money to make things better.

So do we give them a pass on this one then? Maybe give them a little more to help out. When does it end? Even in good times AA doesn't want to give give raises. I know what your saying frontline but there will always be some reason AA can't give raises.

No, but AA keeps coming back for more from its employees hoping to make things better!
I guess that's okay in your book.

The current management team need to go. These guys are just sucking the life out of the company and filling their own pockets. They haven't had an original idea in their lives. AA needs leaders, not shoeclerks.

100% agree with you. The top management team at AA needs to go.

The life is being sucked out of the employees.
And they want more. And in return for more, they offer a pittance. they turned back the clock on contractual gains 40 years. We are coming up on 7 years of concessions and it is appaling to see what they offer.
And for those who think the only issue is wages, think again. they want work rule changes and language written that you might as well not have a contract. Wages are always the main issue of a contract. You know, just like an executive.

THE ONLY THING THEY UNDERSTAND IS FOR EACH DISGUSTED EMPLOYEE TO SHOW THEM EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL EVERY DAY AT WORK!

Show who? Your local management? They're probably as fed up as you are....

When I complain about management. it is the executive elite at the top who set the tone for the company. You know what rolls down hill, don't you. My anger is not directed at immediate supervisors and managers.

Yes, you are correct, they are as fed up as i am.
