The Four Great Religious Truths

In these trying times, it's important to remember the four great religious truths in the world:

1. Muslims don't recognize Jews as god's chosen people.

2. Jews don't recognize Christ as the messiah.

3. Protestants don't recognize the pope as the leader of the Christian world.

4. Baptists don't recognize each other at either Hooters or the liquor store.

Is Jesus Christ a Socialist?

As the debate over the government’s debt and its role in assisting the poor intensifies, some on the far left have begun to claim that Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible advocate socialism and preach against capitalism.

While this notion gives many conservative Christians angst, it is an ideal that is quickly gaining steam among atheists (and some left-leaning believers) who find themselves more on the fiscally-liberal side of the political spectrum.

Jeesus Christ, what next?

20% of Americans believe the sun orbits the earth.

The other 80% believe it's towed through the sky by Jesus on a chariot.

That was funny. I wonder if he was loaded? What does this have to do with anything?

Used to be, before the progressive left did everything they could to eliminate God and the Church (except Islam) from everything and let the ' if it feels good it must be ok' crowd have their way, Churches and communities took care of those things together. Now its government.
Help the poor or provide a meal ticket for lazy people? I believe it is more than just your 'Christian right' who see things through Gods eyes.
What of your Christian charity under fire from Rocky Bama? Looks like the gov't wants to corner the market on charity.....Didn't Rocky Bama take charitable away?

Tell your gay buddies they ought to literally thank God we're a Christian nation.
You know, Islam has no time for homosexuals.....

A totally christian nation would look like China, but without any economic boom. A totally Islamic one (minus oil) would look like Nazi Germany, but in pajammas. How awful each would be depends entirely upon who you are. But if you're gay, their pretty much each a type of hell. Actually, if you're not some sort of high ranking religious authority figure, pretty much the same is true. Unacceptable either way. This is what we are waking up to here in america (some of us anyway), and why it is vitally important to totally remove god and religious influence from regulation. This type of mass fantasizing is ripe for abuse, as history has shown clearly.

This is not a religious issue it's more political. This country was founded upon the basic premise of individual Liberty. This was supported by the COTUS. Additionally society has the right to make rules, social norms etc.

If you believed that, you'd never be able to support religious influence in public. It's one of the things we were founded to get away from.

WRONG!

Not influence, but rather a state sponsored religion of any kind. You could look it up. It's a huge difference. Remember the goal of the founding fathers was individual Liberty

French Revolution
Socialist People's Republic of Albania
The Soviet Union
The People's Republic of China
Mexico under Plutarco Elías Calles
Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge
Mongolian People's Republic
Cuba
North Korea
That's what atheism looks like.
Is that what you propose?

I was hoping for a middle ground where you are free to practice what ever religion you want so long as you keep it private and out of the public sector.

I do not see the link between a dictator trying to silence all forms of expression and a republic where religion is treated as a private matter and kept out of the public sector.

Then you're not looking hard enough.

We forever hear the argument of those who have committed atrocities in the name of religion along with the body count.

So let's compare the body count of avowed atheists like Stalin and the guy in North Korea to the religious zealots. You don't see how it compares because atheists are murdering thugs devoid of morality compared to their Christian and Islamic friends.

That make it clear enough for you

Nope. You did not even address the subject but no surprise there. I'll try it again.

What is wrong with allowing religious freedom (not what the dictators allowed) but keeping religious practices private (on private property, in churches or temples etc) and out of the public sector (not using any public lands, funds ...etc)?
