I AM offended. I am angry that my daughters might see such a disgusting representation of something I have invested a lot of my time and effort in over the last 6 years, to their personal loss. RR
Dude... Spare us the self-righteous, hypo-critical, fake indignation!!! You sound like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed and Eastus1. If your daughters are too tender, or too simple to have explained to them, the issues at play, keep them off the internet. It is far, far too dangerous water for them to tread. Do your job as a parent and protect them at all cost. However, if the real issue here is the difficulty in explaining to them that they should "do as you say, and not as you do..." and that, like modern politics; if there are enough people, (a majority), who vote to take away what you have earned, and give it to unscrupulous persons such as yourself, that is somehow right??? Your problem is a Cronbach's alpha of less than .5. Invested??? No, my friend, you GAMBLED six years of pay raises, benefits and life on an emotional loser of a bet that has cost us all. Good luck explaining THAT to the girls with any semblance of honesty. KTGSD.

Thanks for your edit......Sure, she may have choked....something that we all have to try and avoid. I was not on her flight, so my point was that the West pilots (snapthis and dca319) were giving us some crap about integrity, when in fact, they are not above choking. DCA319 halfway accused me of breaching OPS specs while riding the JS a few weeks ago. Again, I haven't ridden on the JS in months due to training. That is where all of this is coming from. We are all professional pilots out here......no need to start pointing fingers, such as they did.....breeze

Geez breezes, don't get your depends in a wad. I didn't accuse, but merely asked. No need to be defensive about it.

Dear EastPutz1: We know for a fact the position of the thrust levers... KTGSD!

And the NTSB knows for a fact the condition of the engines themselves. What's your supposed "point", little "spartan"?...Perhaps that if "you'se" weren't too busy drowning in "panic" over so much as a lost ID, that "you'se" would have pulled off something truly miraculous, far surpassing the appropriately named "Miracle on the Hudson"? Sure thing kid. Go take a few more currency circuits on Dumbo's ride in Fantasyland. 😉

As your son so astutely suggested: "Grow up".

Dear EastPutz1: We know for a fact the position of the thrust levers... KTGSD!

From your screen name, it sounds like someone mistakenly issued you an A320 type rating.

Have you no clue as to how the thrust levers and autothrust work? If the engines were not producing the demanded CLIMB thrust, what in the world makes you thing TOGA would have made any difference.

(You don't really fly airplanes, do you? No type-rated Airbus pilot would have made such a comment, or suggested such a nonsensical, time-wasting maneuver.)

I see dca319 lurking around.......what? no bi-polar personal attacks tonight? Your West brothers will be disappointed. You half way accused me of some breach on Ops in using the cockpit door a couple of weeks ago.......total BS. Not my style, not to mention that I was in A330 training for 6-8 weeks, riding positive space to training. What is your explanation of the West Captain that misplaced her id on a DEN trip. Instead of talking to dispatch or any other support that could have helped her continue her flight, legally, she called in sick.......canceling a full flight. Integrity, my butt. Just like you.....an adolescent MOVE. I have asked you and snap about this incident......no response. You guys are so full of crap! Oh, I see that you signed off, just like snapthis has each time I have asked this question. You wimps! breeze

I did not accuse you of being involved in the incident. I'm not sure where you got that idea.

As far as asking a question, I did not see the inquiry. I was in Cabo last weekend. I don't bother with these boards when I'm relaxing or take calls from scheduling........

Just tell Cleary to bugger off. Make him work for it if he wants his money. The cash flow spigot is still on, what's the fiscal worry?

West pilots have a message for Cleary:

"Well, here's today's gem: Discussion on paying Mike Cleary off regarding alleged owed vacation pay (somewhat tied to Cleary's attempt to hold USAPA's trademark)."

"I hope my PHX reps vote to do what is RIGHT, no matter how much it costs USAPA. USAPA doesnt seem to have any problem applying that principle to date of hire."

"Are they really putting any credibility that Cleary has any right to the trademark/acronym "USAPA"? Let him sue, USAPA has full time attorneys doing nothing but filling frivolous motions with the court."

"I say f'em. Take it to court and make him spend. But I think USAPA is familiar with this strategy."

"Can't wait to see how this turns out. If they give into Cleary's terror tactics, they will never hear the end of it."

"The C&BL is very clear. Cleary does not get three years of back vacation. He should have taken the time or informed the BPR why Mowery was unable to perform the duties while the pres took a few days off."

"If Cleary wants a legal fight give it to him otherwise it is nothing but legal blackmail."

"Screw Cleary. USAPA knows how to burn through cash as good as the US government. Let them burn through cash and go to court. If it was a West guy that claimed they were owed back vacation, I am sure they would take it to court."

"Man, the rats always find the garbage, dont they? USAPA sitting on that cash and Cleary wants a cut. Looser."

D

Dear Mr. Breeze: Perhaps you might consider the remote possibility that said... "Female", "West", "Captain" might, when faced with the issue of a lost ID, have panicked, (or perhaps, not gave a sh*t), and accomplished the paperwork equivalent of forgetting that the thrust levers should be placed in the TOGA position for maximum thrust, as opposed to realizing that there is a procedure in place to deal with the issue at hand. Are you actually asserting that she somehow knew that you were on the flight, cared, and as opposed to dealing with her problem in accordance with all available SOP's and FOM guidance, somehow chose to "burn" you, by utilizing her prerogative to call in "sick"? She choked... and you are morally equivocating. My son says "Grow up!"

Yet if there is ever an issue with an east crew some of you guys want to turn it into an international incident. What are you alluding to with the TOGA comment? 1549? Read the NTSB report.

Let Cleary sue. We haven't worried about legal costs before. US east pilots don't bank vacation, you take it when you get it and he obviously wasn't indispensable.

Even the most obtuse among us are cognizant of the fact that there is a distinct difference between reneging on "final and binding arbitration" and not realizing that you are not the first person to ever lose your ID, and that there are procedures in place to deal with that eventuality. Cheers!

Huh.....?

DFR matters. ALPA got what they deserved. BFD.

A captain got sick. Who am I to know otherwise? BFD.

Notice a trend....? BFD. 😀

Since you weren't there and are only partly informed, here is the rest of the story. If Cleary sues the union, the cost to defend will likely exceed the cost to settle. The attorneys felt settling would not be precedent setting. There were emails between Cleary and Streble which were read at the meeting and could be interpreted either way, i.e. the union (Streble) gave him the impression it would take care of his request for vacation pay or conversely, the promise only extended to the previous year. In either case it was pointed out that the S/T did not have the authority to make such a commitment on behalf of the union. The other point made was that Cleary was in fact paid his full monthly salary the entire time, by the company. Consequently, his demand for back vacation pay could be interpreted as double dipping. In any case, I don't think he is entitled, but it may be prudent to reach a settlement, since it would cost Cleary to pursue a lawsuit as well.

If he got his salary and he's trying to double dip, then sue the #### for reasons of principal.......the hell with the cost.

Agreed, let him sue. He can wait, wait, wait and then wait for the courts to sort it out.

Take it straight to Arbitration, with Kasher, .....

Bank rhe money, all we will pay Cleary is from the interest earned, after Kasher rules in say, I dont know 10 years?

LOL

...after Kasher rules in say, I dont know 10 years?

Merely 10 years? That seems outrageous, at least based on history! Don't go rushing the poor man. 😉

It would be honestly diffcult to accurately determine just which lives represent the most completely worthless wastes of time, food, space on the planet and breathing air:

1) "Politician", of any sort.
2) Lawyer.
3) Arbitrator.
4) "Meteorologist".
5) Garden slug....Umm....which must be deleted after fair consideration, since that animal actually serves some useful purpose, seems to know what it's doing, and honestly works hard to earn it's keep. 🙂
