A VERY-VERY Simple question for NW employess, Mn. and Federal politicians.

WHY is there NOT one OUNCE of F---ING "FIGHT" about this BAG JOB, coming from you above mentioned folks. ???????????????????????????????????????????

HEL*..even "I" can't blame the DELTOIDS for any of this !!!!!

because they are all so happy and enthused!!

NHBB, just what would you suggest they do? From your retirement chair in front of the computer, it is very easy to see things in black and white, and be outraged (though you don't exactly have a dog in this hunt), and advocate for resistance to management.

Ok. What do you suggest? Strike? Why don't you ask some of the former NW mechanics how well that strategy worked for them in the past? In this economy, I don't think any of us whose parents spent our trust funds ( ) can afford to do anything that will result in the loss of our jobs any sooner than necessary.

Unions do not have the power that they once had. The first time one union crossed another union's picket line, that power was lost. There is no union solidarity anymore. Just read some of the other threads. If the thread is about f/as, they get outraged if a pilot expresses a parallel concern and vice versa. If you work for a different airline, you are told to butt out, this is a private discussion (on a public Internet bulletin board  ). And, there are too many people out of work or underemployed in this country. Any of us can be replaced in a heartbeat.

Barring some unforeseen event, this merger is probably going through because the money people support it. Now given that reality, the NW and DL employees have to decide what is best for them when the shoe drops, not before. Move to ATL, change jobs--we'll all have to wait and see.

Well Jim, UAL was very effective "getting rid of" the potential "hook up" with LCC, in the first attempt.

(Jim, you WON'T drag me into a debate about the Loooong range effect-good or bad-that a UAL/LCC "hook up"..."might" have produced)

Look.
You fly almost daily with Pilots, and you know full well that if one was to Employ a "stategy" against management, ..that you would automatically EXCLUDE them, and In NW(AMT) case, it would have been prudent to Exclude them as well.

Ah, BUT...................the F/a's and Rampers(At their VERY first monthly Union meeting after the deal was first announced) "Could have" LOUDLY told their respective unions that..................."this DEAL is a SELL OUT, and does NOT bode well for us, considering the possibility that we BOTH may lose our union representation.(The Pilots would be safe, and the AMT's are already Decimated).

Once the Union heard them LOUD and CLEAR,..............CHAOS(or the threat thereof) could have been Hatched soon.(ala-UAL).
Once the Media got hold of "that".................Maybe it might have signaled the Minnesote(MSP) town Fathers, NW BOD's, Oberstar in DC etc.

YOU and I KNOW, that if a similiar situation appeared on the AA horizon, that "foreign object" would have had a VERY short "shelf life"

Breaking this thing down even further(as far as the NW F/A's and ramp are concerned),...the F/A's, thinking that they had a 60/40 chance of staying unionized, perhaps(along with their Union) may have speculated that, only 2 changes would occur
1. New "Unies"
and
2. The outside skin of the A/C would get a new paint job !

A Whole LOT different possible scenario for the RAMP(ESE's)
For one thing, Anderson has a HUGE group of low paid rampers(think our A/E ramp in the Eagle non union stations) called DGL, or DLG
You KNOW,.......He will try to get the FEDS to count them in a representational vote once the "TAKEOVER" is complete.

Our GOOD NW Friend..KEV3188(for example) is working in Madison Wisc.
MSN just barely made the "cut" during the NW BK-11 proceedings, as to which NW stations did not get farmed out.

Trick DICK Anderson...HAD to be careful with a station like MSN, when RA was at the helm, in MSP.
However,

The "newly Invented" RA, operating out of Georgia, can be very cavalier with MSN, and with a click of his pen,......................"POOFF", MSN gets farmed out, thus wiping out say 20/30 pro union votes come voting time.
All I'll say at this point is,.....................If one or both NW groups..LOSE their Union, you'll hear WAILING/MOANING from Detroit to Denton(TX)

The problem was the unions that let it happen. AMFA, and the IAM are no stallworths for labor.
The IBT is a prize winning fighter.

Chaos? Wasn't that the strategy so effectively employed by NWA AFA? 🙄

The "We'll give you two weeks notice of our intent so you can go to court and get a TRO" plan worked out rather well didn't it?

The CHAOS strategy worked well how many actual times? Once? Twice? Strikes of ANY kind are illegal under Federal law unless the union as a whole has been released from arbitration/negotiation. And, with Shrub in office still, do you really think that the government and the courts will be on the workers' side?

The other problem with CHAOS strategy is implementation. Who do you get to pull the first strike? I can just hear some AA f/as now saying, "OK, happy to do it. You first. I need my paycheck." Also the union itself can be fined big time (see also the APA) if the court can be convinced that the union is behind/supporting the strikes. I know that at AA, the Blessed Order of the Perpetually Trip-Removed will throw any number of f/as under the bus to avoid having to pay a fine that might cut into officer expense accounts.
