If I remember correctly, the first cut over month to Sabre had a lot of operational problems. It seemed like every flight was delayed for weight and balance. I remember the agents telling us that it would be that way for a year, lol. I do think this lasted for over a month anyway. Also, I don't think we had as many kiosks operating back then.

Mystic Islands, New Jersey is located 25 miles north of Atlantic City, Extit 58 on the scenic Garden State Parkway just south of Long Beach Island on the mainland.

Hopefully this storm will dissapate quickly assuming it ever gets here.

How far is that from PHL? Wouldn't flying out of ACY be more convenient? I understand you may need more options at times, but couldn't Spirit serve some of your flying needs with a much shorter commute?

When my Father was still alive we used to go down to Sea Isle City for a week but that was back late '60's early '70's. Now I just do AC day trips for my Mother, but now we have it here in PA. Still have to get there yet. Problem with AC is that the Casinos are spread out too much, So Mom spends time at Caesars and Bally's. And Wild West (which is still Bally's).

Can anyone tell us what precautions are being taken to protect our passengers, crews and agents from this mess? Any preemptive strikes such as cancellations? If I were VP of operations I would already have offered overtime with hotels in PHL with space positive to PHL-CLT-BOS and DCA to help in the process. For crews anyone that makes themself availible on an off day gets pay no credit. If necessary run an extra segments to get them there! All corporate managers should be SHARES trained and ready to deploy. Is everyone just sitting here waiting for the sucker punch? :blink:

We were still having SABRE related issues into the January lull. On time performance over the heavy travel period were just as pitiful as our recent performance.

If I remember correctly, the first cut over month to Sabre had a lot of operational problems.

March 2007 - US including HP DOT on time arrival rate: 55.5%

December 1998 - US only DOT on time arrival rate: 61.7%

January 1999 - US only DOT on time arrival rate: 58.2%

Note that the March 2007 performance includes HP, which means that the performance numbers can't be directly compared. However, the HP side had around a 75% DOT on time arrival rate for the month according to flightstats.com. That means that the US East side ran about a 45% DOT on time arrival rate for March.

Unfortunately, the DOT doesn't have airline departure OT performance in the archives. What they do have is airport OT departure performance. Dec 98 PHL posted a 65% OT departure percentage. CLT was 66.9%. Anyone care to guess what the next DOT report (which will cover Mar 07) will show for these two airports?

USAir had the same number of kiosks operating as every other airline did back when 1998 turned to 1999...ZERO!

And I do remember plenty of b####ing and moaning on Holly's old 'PlaneBusiness' site back then when US switched to SABRE...although probably not quite as much as now.

Wind is starting to kick up along the NJ Shore already. Rain like crazy tomorrow and Sunday is what I'm hearing, starting to clear about noon on Monday

Let's hope that enough improvements and fixes have been done to the res systems that with allow for a smoother operation.

Hopefully US will be better prepared this time around. I'm flying to BOS on Monday so we shall see how it goes.
