so for the second week in a row i see a chc 206 buzz past my place in yxx doing the pipeline patrol normally flown by trans canada pipelines' bo105......

anybody know why that might be?

CHl on behalf of Trans Mountain sold the BO 105 last week at HAI for 5% above book, about 454,000 USD. The helo has just undergone extensive engine mods and a cockpit upgrade to a Garmin 430 based system and was bought by a Montana rancher for his personal use.

Seems to me that this was a good price for the BO-105; a good performer with Allison reliability. I think the Trans Mtn made a mistake in selling it.

BTW, the pipeline will now be patrolled from Both ends: 2 x B206 flying from Kamloops and Fort Mc by CHL equipement and crew.

One more thing: there are curently over 500 B206's listed for sale in the US alone; a B206 BII (C18 engine) with mid-time components can be bought for just under $USD 150,000. Mom and Pop operation anyone???

When did they start putting C-18's in a 206BII ? Last time I checked, the bII had a C-20, and the BIII had a C-20B

The only 206 with a C-18 was either a Kiowa or a 206A

the engine change has to do with the 'moles' planted in Bell, by the competition.

With the added weight increase capacity to the jetranger, the engine had to be decreased in size just so that they didn't get an unfair jump on the rest of the market. 😀
