Social media is becoming more and more integrated in to our lives like it or not.  Corporations have twitter and FB accounts.  People communicate via social media.  News is disseminated via social media.  Feel free to ignore it.  Wont make it go away or become any less relevant.  People who ignore it and who are ignorant of it will become less relevant.

I used to stay logged in to FB until I found they were tracking me. Now I get alerts through email, log on, read/comment and log off.
FB is fine if you manage it.
