bush.....BEGGING/PLEADING with Senate republicans

The regime against the nation

by Patrick J. Buchanan
June 12 , 2007

Last week, in one of the great uprisings of modern politics, Middle America rose up and body-slammed the national establishment.

The Bush-Kennedy-McCain amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens, and for the businesses that have hired them – a bill backed by La Raza and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post – went down to crushing defeat.

Majority Leader Harry Reid fell 15 votes short (45 to 50) of shutting off debate. Like the rout of the Dubai ports deal, the victory was achieved by a firestorm of public protest, reflected in millions of phone calls and e-mails, and citizens marching to town meetings.

The capital’s capitulation to the country was unprecedented and astonishing. Not two weeks earlier, the amnesty provision of the bill had been supported by more than 60 senators.

But opponents of this bill, which would reward mass criminality with mass amnesty and eventual U.S. citizenship, ought not rest.

For President Bush is coming back to resuscitate the monster, and this bill has more support in the Senate than the 45 votes it got Thursday. Some Republicans and Democrats who voted not to shut off debate are privately committed to amnesty, if they can be given political cover and face-saving amendments to take home.

Sen. John Kyl is not necessarily wrong when he says, “All we have to do on the Republican side is sit down with those who have amendments, get those amendments in a reasonable package, not too many, but enough so all of the members can say they had their chance.â€

Kyl reads his party right. For the GOP is the political instrument of K Street and Corporate America – the folks who fund the party and finance the campaigns. And the No. 1 issue of Corporate America is Bush-Kennedy-McCain. For not only does it give blanket amnesty to businesses for hiring illegals, it legalizes the illegals and ensures Corporate America an endless supply of cheap immigrant labor.

The fundamental reason this bill is not dead is that its authors and backers will never quit. For this legislation is part of a larger agenda of a large slice of America’s economic and political elite.

What is that agenda?

They have a vision of a world where not only capital and goods but people move freely across borders. Indeed, borders disappear. It is a vision of a “deep integration†of the United States, Canada and Mexico in a North American Union, modeled on the European Union and tied together by superhighways and railroads, where crossing from Mexico into the United States would be as easy as crossing from Virginia into Maryland. It is about the merger of nations into larger transnational entitles and, ultimately, global governance.

This immigration bill is but a piece of a great global project already far advanced. In 1993, a majority of Americans opposed the NAFTA trade deal with Mexico because they did not believe the propaganda and feared that, as Henry Kissinger said, it represented the architecture of a new world order.

More than a dozen years have elapsed. And the results? Contrary to the promises, our trade surplus with Mexico did not grow. It vanished. In 13 years, we have run $500 billion in trade deficits with Mexico. Last year’s $60 billion was the largest ever. Mexico now exports more cars, trucks and auto parts to the United States than we export to the world.

What NAFTA did was enable U.S. companies to close their plants here, fire their American workers and move their factories and jobs to Mexico, while Mexico continued to export its poor to the United States.

What is the hidden agenda of the global companies, which evolved out of what were once great American companies?

They want a limitless supply of low-wage immigrant labor and an end to penalties for hiring illegals. They want the freedom to shut factories here and move them to nations where wages are low, benefits nonexistent and regulations lax. They want to be able to move products back to the United States free of charge. They want to be rid of their American workers, but keep their American consumers.

They want to be able to go out to Asia and hire bright kids and bring them to the United States to replace middle-age U.S. workers who cost too much. They want to be able to outsource their white-collar jobs to India at a fraction of the wages they pay Americans.

It is about globalism – and about greed. And, as the Bible says, love of money is the root of all evil. But they have a problem. The nation has begun to awaken to the reality that the vision of the global corporation and the transnational elite cannot be realized without the death of the American republic. And so they are in a fight that is long overdue.

Amazing how that brain of yours works. Someone says something you don't like and either accuse them of being disloyal to the USA or you try and put them in league with Castro or Chavez.

Amazing how you liberals think your the only ones with a right to free speech!

Where did 777 say or imply that you (or anyone else for that matter) was not entitled to think and speak as they choose?

Oh C'mon Gar no need to play innocent. Its common knowledge when a Lib spouts off its free speech, You yourself defended chavez's right to insult our President right here on our turf yet when someone on the right applies a little verbal lashing its labeled as bigotry, racism, hate mongering, etc...! Who are you trying to fool? FOOL!

When I seconded Garfield’s motion I was referring more to what he said to NHBB about contributing to the discussion. While GWB is not my favorite president I do not have as harsh opinion as Garfield and definitely not as harsh as NHBB. Guess I should have edited what he said so as to avoid any confusion. That's my mistake.

As for your comment about "liberals" I actually consider myself a moderate who leans a bit to the conservative side. I have no use for bleeding heart liberals who preach on how we should live our lives while at the same time don't practice what they preach. Nor do I have any use for right wingers who accuse others of being unpatriotic or disloyal just because they disagree with their world view. Or what Bush happens to be doing at that particular moment.

And could you please tell me what gave you the idea that I think I'm entitled to "free speech" while you are not?

Well since your not a lib I guess it does'nt apply!

And yes I will drop the 'hammer' (no pun intended) on anyone who defends a communist, dont like it?...Tough SH!T! 😛

It really doesn't matter if it applies to me or not. You have yet to demonstrate how anyone thinks they are entitled to free speech and you are not.

As for Hugo Chavez he's nothing more than another dictator who uses the US as an excuse to stifle freedom and opposing views in his own country. Some people seem to think, you know who you are, that once Bush is out of office he will tone his rhetoric down. Maybe, but does anyone honestly think he will loosen his grip on his country. I for one am under no illusions that he will. With that said there really is nothing the US can do to prevent someone getting in front of the UN and bad mouthing the president. Any attempts to do so would just play into Hugo's hand.

Examples please. I do not feel like going through all my old posts. Your example is apples and oranges.

Chaves - He has a right to say what he wants.

The Right - They also have the right to say what they want. Whether I deem it racist, bigoted or what ever is not connected in any way to their right to say it. For example, Ann Coulter is a bigoted, hateful b1tch in my opinion. I would never and have never said that she should be banned from speaking her mind.

Defending freedom of speech is a noble cause as I see it. While I may interpret something as racist, bigotry, hate mongering ... I will also defend that persons right to say it. I am after all the person who defended the KKK's right to march in Skokie IL, and that pedophile men's group to try and change a law. I will defend any person, groups right to speak their mind so long as they do not physically endanger the life of another or infringe on someone else's rights. I will defend the rights of a communist, fascist and even a right wing nut case like 700 to speak his mind. One of these days, someone might try and limit my right to speak because they do not like what I have to say, I would hope that someone would have the courage to stand up and protect my rights as well.

It was never my intent to try and fool anyone. I just call them like I see them. I am relatively certain I have never advocated the limitation of anyone's speech.

Excellent then, you should deem it noble of me when I call you a communist Arse kissin liberal coward who would rather lick the boots of Islamofacism and retreat rather than come out and call it what it really is!

Did you eat lead paint chips as a kid?

Did the thought ever cross that thick skull of yours that if the US had stopped Chavez from addressing the UN it would have played right into his hands. He would have exploited for all it was worth. It would have gotten even more attention that it did. Instead of someone like Nancy Pelosi calling him a thug she would have said "Even though I do not agree with Mr. Chavez he should be allowed in the US to address the UN." And guess what smart guy; he would have said the things he did anyway! With an even bigger crowd!

Here's something else to consider that you obviously did not. I think people who are smart enough realize there is a certain irony in it all. Even for those who do not like GWB. He's allowed into this country so he can spew his particular brand of venom in front of a world body like the UN. However in his own country those who oppose him have their TV and radio stations shut down. Gotta love America.

There seems to be a contradiction here in regards to the pedophiles. You say you will defend anyones right to free speech as long as it does not physically endanger the life or infringe on someone else's right's. Isn't that exactly what those pedophiles are doing? When they commit their unspeakable acts they are violoating the rights of a child. You can try and sugarcoat it all you want but that's what they are doing.

Excellent then, you should deem it noble of me when I call you a communist Arse kissin liberal coward who would rather lick the boots of Islamofacism and retreat rather than come out and call it what it really is!

How would you behaving like a child be noble? Defending your right to act like an ass on line or in person would be a noble act. You exercising that right is just you behaving like an ass. Nothing noble about it.

Our(so called) Commander-in-Chief, is doing everything, short of sexual favors to republican Senators, to get them to reconsider their opposition to his IMMIGRATION BILL.

Question....Will he get enough republicans ??

I'll cast the first guess. --------- YES !

Rock on "EL CHIMPO, ROCK ON"  😛

Dems want Bush bill....

WASHINGTON (AP) - Only in the arcane world of the U.S. Senate could a quirky gambit known as a "clay pigeon" make the difference between passage of an important immigration measure and its death at the hands of opponents.

Democratic leaders hope the complex maneuver - which makes use of the Senate's labyrinthine rules to insist on votes on amendments - will frustrate conservatives' attempts to derail the embattled immigration bill, instead putting it on a fast track to passage next week.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he would revive the bill to legalize as many as 12 million unlawful immigrants late this week. To do so, though, he needs backing from 60 senators, and a way to guarantee votes on a tentative list of 22 Republican and Democratic amendments whose consideration is seen as vital to satisfying key waverers.

dell "DUDE",

I never said the Dems were against the Immigration bill.

My point was that the Morons in the GOP, are "the gang that can't shoot straight"

The Dems are Laughing at them, as they perform their(almost daily version of a) CHINESE fire drill.

I mean, I could'nt have written a "BETTER" script for the "GOP", with the 2006 EMBARRASMENT(you remember MACACA don't you), Jack Abramoff, Our "IMBECILE-in-CHIEF's" Woefull approval ratings, (Sadly), the Abysmal CLUSTER *UCK in Iraq,Scootergoing to need a lot of K Y jelly  , I mean the "hits just keep on coming"

Maybe the BEST part, is...this JERK will be in office for another 18+ months.
