Actually, that sounds about right. I would like to see the questions that were asked. I too am disappointed in Congress as well. How ever, my disappointment comes from the fact that the Dems did not win enough seats to over ride Reps in their support of the war and of Bush. That is not a fault of the Dems, just a situation that they are not able to control.

Should events continue at their current rate, I suspect that the balance of power will tip even farther. Barring some colossal screw up by the Dems, they will definitely take the White House (definitely good for the USSC appointments) and the Congress is looking better and better all the time for the Dems. For the most part I think that could prove disastrous (see how one party rule for 6 years has worked) but the good part would be that perhaps, given an adequate majority, Congress can at least extricate the US from Iraq and move on.

Dems problem is their own ego's.....they ballyhooed about the corrupt Repub's and now are mirroring them.

I was not aware that corruption was the issue being polled. I have not seen the questions so I do not know. I was under the impression from other sources that the dissatisfaction with Congress (specifically the Dems) was their inability to extricate the US from Iraq. I know that for me that is my primary irritation. Unfortunately if the votes are not there, they are not there and there is nothing that can be done other than compromise. Given the fact that a large number of the people in this country have little if any understanding (much less care) of our government functions it is not a surprise that people are dissatisfied.

The fact that the Dems are as corrupt as the Republicans should come as no surprise to anyone and I doubt the poll results are based on that. As I said, I have not see the questions so I cannot be sure of that.

dell "DUDE",

Just a simple answer will do, if you don't mind.

Since EVEN Fox news reports that the majority of Iraq "news" is NEGATIVE",...How many MORE troops are needed,...How much MORE $$$ money is needed,....how much LONGER(time) is needed(2-5-10-20 years)..to POSSIBLY eek out a "VICTORY" in the bush/cheney/wolfowitz WAR ??

I think ALL of us regular members(here) will be interested in your response.

Thank you(in advance)

local 12, you can "jump in" too, if you'd like.

Bear, you really need a back up plan. I serious doubt the Dems are dumb enough to put Clinton on the ticket. Don't get me wrong. I think she has some very good ideas (some seriously screwed up ones as well) but she is Hillary Clinton. People either lover her or they hate her. There are very few who are on the fence like I am about her. My biggest problem with her is her lack of sincerity that comes across when she speaks. Every time I hear her speak I have this feeling that she is reading people minds and just trying to tell them what they want to hear. In a word, she is a politician. The same as the dumb ass sitting in the office right now.

Her pandering aside, the other issue is the fact that she is a WOman, not a man. As I stated else where, I am a firm believer that this country is still very sexist and very racist. I am not saying it is impossible. Clinton is far too divisive to get a good cross section of voters (I feel that is needed to win). If the Dems put up someone like G Ferraro or someone less divisive I would be more inclined to think there was a chance for a woman. I would like nothing more than to have a woman in the White house if only to give the chauvinist bastards in this country 4 years of restless sleep. I just don’t think Clinton is the one to do it.

My guess is the Dem nomination will be someone like, Edwards, Richards or some as yet unknown dark horse. If Clinton does manage to make it on the ticket, I'll vote for her just due to the fact that the alternatives are far worse and I am not interested in throwing away my vote on a third party.

Just my $0.02 worth.

As for the original topic, Bush has become irrelevant. He is not seeking re-election. No current Republicans what him anywhere near their campaign. Rummy resigned, Wolfowitz is out, Gonzalez is on his way out, Iraq is a lead weight around a drowning man. It just seems Bush does not give a crap any more. He will try to get what he wants (and will probably fail). I do not see him so much as begging on Capital Hill, but thumbing his nose at the american people and just telling us all to go f%^k our selves if we do not like what he is doing. He brought religion into the election process and now it is will be used against them (see Guiliani and Romney). It's just Karma coming home to roost.

Gotta love politics. I feel like I need to take a shower after just talking about it. Not sure how any of these crooks actually look them selves in the mirror.

Bears I don't pretend to have the answers, But I will say that unless we can formulate a way to bring some stability to that region before Pulling out it is going to be Catastrophic. It could and probably will destabilize the entire middle East, quite possibly send oil prices into the stratosphere, drag the worlds economies into the abyss, and see loss of life that will stun the world.

Take a look at whats happening in Gaza right now since Israel pulled out and Imagine that on a scale a thousand times over. The whole middle east is a powder keg right now and the fuse is lit!

JMHO...but hey you asked! 😉

I am not sure if it was you or not but i seem to recall the idea being floated that they folks in the ME have no interest in peace if it involves us existing. If that is te case, what possible solution could there be?

I believe that they want us out of the equation but I do not believe there is any solution to quandry in the ME. I believe that they will implode whether as soon as trops are gone. Whether it is today or 10 yrs from now, it will happen. In other words, I do not believe there is an answer where as it seem you believe there is (or so it seems.)

Well Gar I don't have the answer but I know someone who does. 😉

Your right in your assesment though concerning the middle east imploding, it will happen but Israel will be victorious and you can take that to the bank!

Zech 12:9-10 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem. And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.

Israel will be victorious in the END. Who knows what can happen in the meantime... the Israelis have been defeated numerous times in history; but they keep coming back stronger. None of the prophecies categorically preclude Israel losing its land once AGAIN and then regaining it in another battle.

I was not aware that corruption was the issue being polled.

Wasn't...it was job performance. They ran on the corruption thing and now do as the romans...er I mean republicans do.

When exactly have they been "defeated"? For Israel if they remain in existance that's a victory.
