The Wealth Distribution
In the United States, wealth is highly concentrated in a relatively few hands. As of 2007, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 34.6% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 50.5%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 85%, leaving only 15% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth (total net worth minus the value of one's home), the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 42.7%.

Warren Buffet is not infallible! he did buy several million shares of US Airways stock and lost his shirt. Now if you want to make the argument that the tax code it between half and three quarters of the problem then you are preaching to choir, save for the fact we shouldn't even be having the conversation if the Feds followed the COTUS there would be no need for the Federal Income tax. This whole problem started with Woodrow Wilson and the creation of the Fed and passing the personal income tax. As much as I despise Obama, the truth is that Obama is merely the extension of the events of 1913. If you start foraging through the Internet you'll find many articles on the Great Depression and virtually all place blame on the Federal Reserves Monetary policy. What varies is WHY the Fed is to blame. Yet all reach the conclusion that the Fed bears a lot of the blame.
Next, somewhere along the way the Government figured out that it could use the tax code for social engineering, these misguided efforts are what caused the never ending stream of loopholes, special incentives, credits and notes from Mom to the point where the whole thing is an abortion of revolting regulatory purgatory enforced by the jack booted thugs of the IRS.
First step to a robust growing economy is some financial triage. We need to stop the bleeding NOW! Balance the next budget as a sign of good faith to the world wide financial community that we will be putting our fiscal house in order and sooner rather than later. Next Balanced Budget Amendment followed by a plan to pay off the National debt to a point where the GDP to Debt ratio is in the 50% range plus or minus 2 percent. Once we get to that point we can tackle the tax code reforming it from top to bottom. To the point where everyone can file a return on a single sheet of paper using both sides.
Ever angling, the Clintons actually took a tax deduction for donating used underwear (boxers or briefs not specified) to charity.

I'm not looking over my shoulder.
I got an invite for dinner with my favorite socialist president in the very near future.
Nap. No blanky needed. I just dont understand why people keep using that set of statistics to prove their case unless they just don't actually have any real evidence and they are hoping no body will realize they have nothing.
The tax code needs to be changed as soon as possible. Spending cuts alone will not solve the problem. Tbe revenue stream needs to be increased and getting the rich and corporations to pay their fair share is needed. Its time to stop soaking the middle class.
Once everyone is paying what they are supposed to then we can look into adjusting those rates. That along with spending cuts are Whats needed.

Then we are back to the poor states getting screwed over even more then they already are. The rich will get better educations, better cities better everything while the poor get morenof what they have always been getting.
Not via the Federal Income Tax which required an amendment to the COTUS. Currently the Federal Gooberment derives about 60% of it's revenue from User fees, tariff's, mineral leases, etc and is about 40% larger than is should be, IN theory if the Feds roles and responsibility were where they should be then you wouldn't need an Income tax.How does the COTUS say government is to pay for what it is supposed to maintain?
I think what you meant to say was there are the haves and have nots. Sucks to be in the later but Ob well. Those are the breaks.
That is not how this country works. I am not in favor of helping those who choose not to help them selves but I am in favor of helping those who for what ever reason got a raw deal.
While the public school system is not the best it definitely better than the alternative. OH wait. There is no public alternative. The only alternative is private institutions that most people cannot even begin to afford.
I would rather see an overhaul of the system. Education is the bedrock of a prosperous society. Everyone who is able deserves a chance at the best education this country has to offer with out having to spend a small fortune. Who knows. One of them may cure cancer, discover a limitless energy source or countless other possibilities.
