As of 2007, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 34.6% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 50.5%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 85%, leaving only 15% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth (total net worth minus the value of one's home), the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 42.7%.

Now if you want to make the argument that the tax code it between half and three quarters of the problem then you are preaching to choir, save for the fact we shouldn't even be having the conversation if the Feds followed the COTUS there would be no need for the Federal Income tax. This whole problem started with Woodrow Wilson and the creation of the Fed and passing the personal income tax. As much as I despise Obama, the truth is that Obama is merely the extension of the events of 1913. If you start foraging through the Internet you'll find many articles on the Great Depression and virtually all place blame on the Federal Reserves Monetary policy. What varies is WHY the Fed is to blame. Yet all reach the conclusion that the Fed bears a lot of the blame.

Next, somewhere along the way the Government figured out that it could use the tax code for social engineering, these misguided efforts are what caused the never ending stream of loopholes, special incentives, credits and notes from Mom to the point where the whole thing is an abortion of revolting regulatory purgatory enforced by the jack booted thugs of the IRS.

First step to a robust growing economy is some financial triage. We need to stop the bleeding NOW! Balance the next budget as a sign of good faith to the world wide financial community that we will be putting our fiscal house in order and sooner rather than later. Next Balanced Budget Amendment followed by a plan to pay off the National debt to a point where the GDP to Debt ratio is in the 50% range plus or minus 2 percent. Once we get to that point we can tackle the tax code reforming it from top to bottom. To the point where everyone can file a return on a single sheet of paper using both sides.

With 85% of the wealth held by 20% of the people, one would a$$ume that they pay 85% of the taxes.
Which is not true by any stretch of the imagination.

The tax code needs to be changed as soon as possible. Spending cuts alone will not solve the problem. Tbe revenue stream needs to be increased and getting the rich and corporations to pay their fair share is needed. Its time to stop soaking the middle class.

Once everyone is paying what they are supposed to then we can look into adjusting those rates. That along with spending cuts are Whats needed.

What they are supposed to pay for is the cost of Running the Federal Government as it was designed by the Founding Fathers. If that were the case:

The budget would have a surplus
The debt would be paid down
The bulk of our Military would be home
Our economy robust
No Federal Reserves
No Insane war on drugs
No Departments of Energy, HUD, HHS, Interior, Education, Commerce & Labor!
No MediCare/Medicaid

The burden would be shifted to the states where it belongs, Each State determining the appropriate level of Government services based upon the the will of the people in those states.

Classic example is a right to work state versus and non right to work state. Peoples choice and the funny thing is this. if the Feds through unelected bureaucrats succeeds in keeping Boeing out of SC it will likely be the death blow to Closed Shop states in terms of companies locating new plants and facilities there. Yet another example of the Progressive road of good intentions leading straight to the unemployment line, while virtually ensuring that union membership fails to grow.

This is why after every social experiment has failed and you have a mountain of debt staring multiple generations in the face you go back to what worked from 1776 to 1913, strict adherence to the COTUS, sound money, fiscal frugality and a US first foreign policy. We can't continue to hand out money through hair brained, half baked redistribution schemes because we've frankly run out of people to confiscate it from.

Here's the brutal news for all you Progressives out there. Capitalism has winners and loser whether the government is involved or not. Are are Government schools delivering the same level of performance for the same dollar? If the answer were "YES" then we wouldn't have stack rankings issued by the redundant Dept of Education. So even Baracktopia today there are winners and loser despite their best efforts to level the playing field. Since that's the case why not eliminate ALL federal spending on Education since it fails and return it to the people who can decide to invest it in Traffic Lights, Police, Education or whatever they come up with LOCALLY?

Not via the Federal Income Tax which required an amendment to the COTUS. Currently the Federal Gooberment derives about 60% of it's revenue from User fees, tariff's, mineral leases, etc and is about 40% larger than is should be, IN theory if the Feds roles and responsibility were where they should be then you wouldn't need an Income tax.

That is not how this country works. I am not in favor of helping those who choose not to help them selves but I am in favor of helping those who for what ever reason got a raw deal.

While the public school system is not the best it definitely better than the alternative. OH wait. There is no public alternative. The only alternative is private institutions that most people cannot even begin to afford.

I would rather see an overhaul of the system. Education is the bedrock of a prosperous society. Everyone who is able deserves a chance at the best education this country has to offer with out having to spend a small fortune. Who knows. One of them may cure cancer, discover a limitless energy source or countless other possibilities.

I belive that when the COTUS is amended then it it part of the COTUS. The people wanted it.

No I meant Winners and Losers. Some winners are winners because of membership in the Lucky Sperm Club. A recent example would be our most recent ex-president. Others like Hiram Hickam came from the Coal Fields of WV to become a Rocket Scientist at NASA. Justice Thomas from dirt poverty. Then on the loser side you have the Indians who lost the war and their land only to have their dignity stolen by a corrupt Bureau of Indian Affairs that has enslaved them via the Government. Individual Liberty allows for individual greatness, Government collectivism leads to collective failure and poverty.

Who determines who got a raw deal? Some gooberment drone who has a job in Gooberment because he/she isn't competent to hold a job in the private sector? There are about 14.3 Trillion reasons currently to reject that notion.

First off their are NO PRIVATE SCHOOLS of any kind. In order to be accredited the so called private school must teach a Gooberment course of study. Ergo by definition it is not private.

Overhaul? How about scrap it and put it in the hands of the people who benefit most from a good school? The parents! We didn't have public run schools for most of the first 150 years of this country and people rich & poor got educated. Why have gooberment operate what the private sector has already proven it can do better? Even teaching the Gooberment Propaganda, privately run schools have shown the ability to perform better at a lower cost time and time again. Just for a quick and dirty example. Little Billy goes to private school @ a cost per pupil of say $5,000/Yr and Little Suzy goes to public school @ cost per pupil of $6,500. BOTH have SAT scores that are slightly over 1300 (Which get;s you into the Ivy League). To me the choice is simple, Send my kid to private school Right? well hold on buckeroo's & buckerette's, government forces me to pay school tax of $11,000 annually through Real Estate taxes in order to fund the schools. This is but one example of how government intervention cost the taxpayers more money to deliver less.
