Guess they wanted to beat the unions to the representational punch perhaps?

WTF?

They say that they came to an agreement with the representatives of the non-represented employees???

Who elected/appointed them?

They agreed to accept it and not be fired... 😀 😀 😀

😀 Good one xUT!

All kidding aside it isn't really that far fetched. This whole process of having a few so called 'representatives' of labor negotiating with management is a model that's being used by other companies as well. The sole purpose is to keep the unions out by having people think that their interests are being addressed.

But is it legally binding like as a union contract? I highly doubt that. I got into a discussion one time with an employee from one of these companies and tried to explain how this is just a created illusion.

By not supporting a real union they do nothing more than ride on the coattails of those who are truly fighting to better labors condition. That the unionized employees are the ones fighting the struggle and, after it's all said and done, the others just reap the rewards because the companies know that if they don't match somewhere close they too will be dealing with a union.

Also, by not being unionize, they are actually working similar to scabs and helping to erode any organized labors efforts by not being part of one.

And, to finally prove my point, I had to ask this person just one simple question:

“If ALL the unions were to disappear tomorrow how long do YOU think you'd have these benefit's you now enjoy?”

I rest my case.
