Can I refuse to take a voucher or credit if I cancel flights that are insured with a cancel for any reason policy?

I will be booking first class tickets for domestic travel within the US but might want to cancel the flights for an upcoming trip in the event that I decide not go. I found an insurer who offers CFAR and does not require that one accept an airline voucher or credit in the event of voluntary cancellation. Some insurers do from what I've researched.

So my question is - if I cancel my flight can I refuse whatever credit or voucher would be offered? Obviously I can't accept a credit and also file an insurance claim.

I've been trying to contact Delta but it has been far worse than waiting for a pot of water to boil! Latest phone hold time is 90 minutes
