Reserve and loving it.
Was just reading the latest inflight newsletter and saw a blurb under the east section referring to the "cash cow" announcements requesting that the FA's limit the duration of the announcement to one minute and to only walk through the cabin once. Just wondering what exactly is this Cash Cow thing the east has to do? I realize this may have already been dicussed on here, so my apologies for being out of the loop if this is the case.

It's a US Airways visa credit card program. Very similar to what you see in the airports, but those are for mastercard. If a customer submits an application, and gets approved, they immediately receive 25K bonus miles after their first purchase making them eligible for a free round trip domestic ticket. For every application turned in and approved, the flight attendant who gave the application to the customer gets $50.00. It's a neat program and many flight attendants are seeing more than a $1000 at a time. But, the announcements are getting longer and longer by the day and more and more irritating. It is like being trapped in a confined space with a used car salesman on some flights....

Thanks for the info...sounds kind of like our "buy in the sky" Skymall program...but we only get 5 bucks and the announcement is really long... 🙄

I agree. And many F/A's use little common sense with regard to the time of day when launching their spiel.

If I were applying though, I wouldn't want a document that carries so much personal information floating around in such an unsecure manner.

How is it decided which F/A get the commission, or is split between the F/A's onboard?

What's the next thing, "Flight Attendants modeling Victoria Secrets" stuff during flights?

$50 per app. approved. If 3 f/a's participate, most pick random the first , second, and third apps to distirbute and go in that order and back around again. Its the luck of the draw as you never know who will bw approved.

I have avaerage about $150 xtra a month after taxes. I am not aggressive and am sensitive to time of day and flights.

The East f/a's are suppose to do Buy In The Sky too but at $50 dollars a pop, guess which one I pimp? 😉

If you have more than one f/a that does "Cash Cow" then you shuffle the applications up with your initials on them. It's fair that way. I like a nice short announcement that is to the point myself. When your doing "Cash Cow" everyone starts to whip out their GREAT announcement. I'm like, Thanks but I can handle it sales girl! ! ! This debate of "tastfull" went pretty far on here a while back with one person in particular. They said they do "Cash Cow" RAIN OR SHINE! ! I truly have a problem with that. If it's late or on a redeye NO WAY. On a mechanical NO WAY. You don't have time to serve on a short flight NO WAY. I don't care what anyone says about length of flight and scheduled service. If it's too short to serve then it's too short to pimp the card. THAT IS PUSHY. For those that don't do it though I say great. The money just keeps rolling in. Those folks in the airport can be quite pushy as well. Ya get attacked walking through the airport. One guy followed a poor girl beside me almost to B-6 in Philly. I think he was trying to get her digits honestly.

Now I might come back to US for that.......

On second thought, that could get down right ugly with some of the US senior mama's. 😛 I think I'll stay where I am.

🙄 Then again, it depends who would be stolling down the aisle. Since closets are being removed on the East side, applicants to model will be limited since we would not have ample space to Store/Stow the "larger" sizes.....I couldn't resist!
