Change of Control Award

we had to go forward with the case even if our chances of winning were slim

Yay! Go IAM! I love risking a $7/hour raise on a hail mary. That aside, will East fleet help West fleet by not accepting a transition that gives us retro, since we lost the raise we would have gotten on the TA?

Read the whole update:

Therefore, in an attempt to improve the financial and working conditions of IAM members, direct negotiations with US Airways will resume. District 141 will return to the bargaining table January 22, 23 and 24 2008, and District 142 will continue bargaining January 29, 30 and 31, 2008.

Yes, please read the whole update:

With the National Mediation Board having ruled that both East and West employee groups are combined under a single carrier, any efforts to reach an agreement that does not cover both groups would be fruitless and impractical. Only the current transition negotiations for the combined groups can achieve any gains prior to traditional negotiations, which won’t start until nearly two years from now.[/quote

Retro...The only retro this company is going to give is the a/c paint schemes that come to ur sta once in awhile.

The best quote is:
The Machinists union received differing opinions from legal experts regarding our chances of ultimately prevailing in the grievance. Because the potential stakes were so high, however, we had to go forward with the case even if our chances of winning were slim.

good luck in negotiations!

If we're lucky the union won't push a retro pay concession.

Reread it, you are going to be negotiating a transition agreement, the dates are set.

A total new CBA won't be until the end of 2009.

The games will begin now, This is a huge loss for labor at 141 and 142
now is the chance for 141 to take back every contracted out city.

28,

With what leverage?

The company wants to outsource more, not insource.

That would be section 6 which wont start till the end of 2009.

Once again I ask you, what leverage does the IAM have to get back the outsourced cities?

What a stupid statement "The IAM lost".
The IAM didn't lose squat. We (mechanics and rampers) lost not the IAM. What did they lose? Nothing. They are not the ones struggling to feed and house their families. I'm sure not one of the IAM officers lost a thing and they are not concerned one bit about the hard times we have endured. Now what kind of loss did the suffer? I sure they will have no problem sleeping tonight.

2009 - that is if we're still around under the name US Airways.

They pissed that away during the BK rounds, because they were afraid to shut the company down.

So now, they will die the death of a thousand cuts.

Wanna bet the next contract is concessionary also? IAM says to expect it.
