Have been hearing rumors of a CHQ base in PHX, can anyone confirm this?

Mesa has written in their contact with America West, now US Airways, that all Phoenix express flying will solely be done by Mesa Airlines.
The following is from a Q & A session with Jeff McClelland:

"JM: The wholly owned vs. the affiliates is not well defined yet. However, we do know, simpler is better. Mesa is on its way out for US Airways flying and AWA is in. MESA has exclusive rights to operations in Phoenix. Trans States is out. Goal of the CO is to get feed from the most efficient and effective source. In the big picture, 6-7 express carriers sounds like a lot.

Q: Mesa has D-8 in Phoenix….
JM: There are 6 D-8 in Phoenix that feed. There is an agreement to option in 2007. There are not a lot of small low-density cities to feed PHX to there isn’t a lot of use for them. America West has an agreement with Mesa that if there is express feed into PHX, it will be done exclusively with Mesa."

Sucks.

Well, thats what I thought...maybe it's a LAS base and people have it wrong?? Do any CHQ people know about anything like this?

The only west coast base that has been "leaked" around here is on the Delta side. That base being SLC for Shuttle.

OK, a CHQ pilot was jumpseating out here and said CHQ had a bid out for PHX...now, I know Mesa has exclusive feed to PHX, but that's a AWA contract, not
Airways contract...so it could be true if CHQ was using it's contract with LCC to do this flying....kind of a technicality, but possible I should think.

I don't suppose it would be any different than Mesa flying its America West CRJ-900's off the "C" concourse in Charlotte on USAirways routes.... Mesa has no contract with USAirways.

I'm a Chautauqua pilot.
The quick answer is NO. Chautauqua has no plans to open any bases out west for US Airways.
Salt Lake will be a 170 base for Delta soon.
