What will the numbers at USAir be this year

the whole country might be delayed this XMAS

But hey you get what you pay for
and there aint no double time and a half anymore

To be fair to those who are truly sick, what do they expect when we spend our days shut up in aluminum tubes with every sick person in North America? And, this time of year is the prime time for communicable bugs of all kinds.

The other day we had a young man (18-25 or so) throwing up his lungs, liver, and intestines during flight. His mother said, (and I quote), "Oh, it's nothing to worry about. Just that stomach bug that everyone is catching these days."

When the #4 f/a asked her if she thought it wise or considerate to travel while ill with a communicable disease, the woman replied, "We are NOT going to change our travel plans just because [her son] is sick! I've been looking forward to this trip to Vegas for weeks."

The flip side of this unfortunately from a passengers perspective is...good luck trying to the airline to allow you to change your travel plans without cost due to illness.

A true carring mother! Like the ones who wont strap the kids in when we are all bouncing off the walls

I caught something on my last trip spent yesterday in bed. I am still quite weak but the fever is coming down. Topped at 101.4 down to 100.9

I am hoping to keep my trip 2 legs for 17 hours. Easy and nice crew. Only 20 people going down. But full coming back.

I am putting off calling in, in the hopes I feel better and someone else doesnt have to cover me. Since I have no family here or plans for the holiday.

I think the thing to remember is that only 1,511 out of 20,000 flight attendants are out sick. The vast majority of us are working this holiday season.

must beat dead horse

this will haqppen every year no need to post and repost the sick numbers. The good ones show up to work and are punished by the ones who dont. Lets just give credit to the ones who show up and do the job they are hired for.

Garfield(The Movie),

By this time last year, you were RANTING and RAVING, almost to the point of exhaustion, over sick F/A's.

Has everyone remained "Fluless" this year.

?????????????

It was mentioned a few days ago on another thread (which I can't find) that FA sick calls were 1510, which is very high.

I would like an update, however. There are about a thousand fewer FA's active than at the same time last year. How's it going, guys?

Just got in from a 3-day trip. Yesterday, during a 2.5 hour sit in STL, I was told that there were NO reserves available in STL or DFW--they had used every single available reserve already, and it was only 1000 then.

Later yesterday (during a 2 hour sit at DFW--don't you love the way they build trips at AA?), someone at the MOD desk told me that they had 55 reassignments yesterday morning at DFW alone.

(For those who don't know what a reassignment is...a f/a comes in from a trip expecting 1 or more days off. Since the f/a is otherwise legal to fly, the company reassigns them to go back out immediately on another trip. Or, they are in the midst of a trip and get reassigned to work a trip that may last longer than their original trip. The second circumstance usually occurs when the f/a has some special qualification--such as 777, or Purser--that none of the other available f/as have.)

People get sick. Though it's my days off, I am at home, in bed, with a sore throat, headache and a cough. It doesn't seem to be the flu as the fever isn't that high. My doctor has taken the day off and it doesn't seem bad enough to warrant a trip the ER.

So, I'm laying in bed, taking asprin and drinking loads of OJ. As jimnTX said, my last trip included a number of customers with colds and God-only-knows what kind of crud.

Also on my last trip, two of my coworkers had something. They were too afraid to call in sick. Thanks a lot. I missed Christmas parties as I didn't want to spread the joy to friends and family. Once again, I spent my vacation in the sick bed.

What fun.

PS: There's nothing good on TV

Actually the operation ran smoothly at USAirways on Christmas.....US/East(USAirways) actually sent crews and planes to the US/West(AmericaWest) side to help out with their problems. Just goes to show you what a change in management and a positive outlook can do!
