Explain to me how not working OT helps anyone.
As long as people are willing to work it, there is no reason for the company to consider recalling the person (or people cut).

And economics aside, I personally just think it's a dick move to profit off someone else's misfortune.

You've been around awhile, it used to be hard to get an airline job, now it's a piece of cake. When I started back in the seventies I had to know someone, so the newbies don't appreciate what it took to get in. Your right, you have to be old school...
^Yes^

Kev,

He will never get it, he is anti-union, anti-worker, go over to the US board and look at the TLV thread and I reposted his comments about wanting to take US from PHL-TLV, you will see his true colors about organized labor.

He hasnt lived the cuts, the chapter 11s we have all been through, he will never get it.

Unions can talk if solidarity and all but at the end of the day people will do what is best for their families, sometimes even crossing a picket line.
Sometimes "doing what's best for their families" means taking the longer view.

I know. He also once noted that he'd never have a union member in his house if he could avoid it.

So it seems we are wasting our time answering him or explain the real world to him.

So I guess I wont ever be invited to Shabat Dinner or a Seder at his house, lol.

I agree I am anti-union but not anti-worker and no they are not one the same. I support a lot of what labor stands for-opportunity for all, workplace free of harassment and discrimination, fair working conditions, fair pay to name a few but I do not think unions are the optimal way to achieve those things.

Indicate what I said in the PHL-TLV thread that was anti-union, I was critiquing USAIR.

Taking a trip to Israel this summer and am considering taking US BOS-PHL-TLV. People seem to be raving about the new Envoy seat and I'm beginning to consider giving it a try. For some background, I've flown Continental and El Al before from EWR and JFK and have been fairly satisfied with both of their business class products. The attraction to US is having direct aisle access and not being disturbed by a seatmate due to the 1-2-1 configuration. How is the in-flight catering? Is it on par with UA Chelsea catering from EWR or El Al? Secondly how are the FAs? I know this is the longest route in the US system and likely a coveted route for senior FAs. I don't want to be stuck with senior disgruntled FAs for a 12 hour flight. US fares BOS-PHL-TLV are about $1000 cheaper than UA BOS-EWR-TLV for my dates and there must be a reason.

Also considering redeeming CO miles to fly Lufthansa or SWISS first class through Frankfurt or Zurich, respectively. Perhaps the cold but professional service on Lufthansa or SWISS will be better than senior USAir FAs.

Any suggestions?

Josh

Taken DL before on the 777-200LR from ATL, that flight has since ended don't want to fly on an antiquated 747 with PM-NW crews from JFK.

Josh

True but while the JFK-TLV route may be scheduled for a refurbished 744 they do swap aircraft and I don't want to be stuck with the old product. Don't get me wrong, I'd usual take non-union DL (I realize the pilots and dispatchers are union, no need to attack me) any day over US but I don't want the old seat or the surly disgruntled PM-NW FAs that I avoid like the plague. From ATL I was guaranteed 777-200LR and non-union ATL based PM-DL crews. While AFA may now be decertified and integrated the FAs are still around.

Josh

Yep, I know but I answered etops1 why I didn't want to take DL given the possibility of an antiquated aircraft with surly and disgruntled PM-NW crews. Assume most things from JFK are largely staffed with PM-DL crews, although everything has since been integrated so who knows.

Yep, I know the European airlines are unionzed too. So is Southwest, Cathay Pacific, El Al, Singapore Airlines and many other airlines I've flown that I didn't list. The difference is the carriers I listed above do not allow employees to be unprofessional in the presence of customers and for the most part provide consistently good customer service (except El Al perhaps). I had great service in LX F from union FAs, same on LH and BA. Not sure why the US based unions and employees can't get their act together and realize the customers who pay their salaries aren't the enemy nor is management.

"Old disgruntled senior Flight Attendants."

They were all posted yesterday, but conveniently the thread is gone.

How does that indicate I'm anti-union or anti-worker? It's true and I actually have taken US Envoy to TLV and did not like it. The F/As were senior and disgruntled and didn't deliver polished service I receive on LH or LC. In the future sticking to DL or LX they are convenient for me.

Thanks for proving my point.

Didn't prove anything, guess you don't know Ba, LH, LX, and LY are all unionized too. That is a fact based on my experience, the DL F/As are much nicer and more professional than US.

You are so blinded you cant see you have insulted and attacked people you dont even know.

So spin it anyway you want, you are still judgmental and thats just wrong.

You are anti-union, and anti-worker, your rude comments show how backwards your thinking is.

And I flown BA, got food poisoning, and flown LY, LY isnt know for its stellar service and I flew Business class.
