A quick review of the CLT fleet service grievance committee and new steward’s first 40 days. They campaigned touting there would be a change and that’s what we needed, well the first change had nothing to do with us, the most junior member of the committee, MC, was a part time agent during the campaign, he couldn’t hold a day line as a full timer but in December when he found out he had won the election he put in for full time and was awarded it in January, guess when…that’s right, the week he took office and now off the clock working whatever hours he wants, which brings me to the next topic, time off. After making some calls to other hub cities we find that the CLT committee is the only whole committee off the clock. The other hub committee chairmen are the only ones off the clock not the whole committee and then in most of the hubs only when they need to do grievance work. Now they are working OT on grievance days, how does that fly when they work any hours they want and don’t clock in or out with work brain? There has to be an OT bypass there somewhere for someone! They’ve advised agents to contact management with problems instead of handling them through the grievance procedure, guess they don’t have time for agents’ problems, they have OT to work. This week the whole committee’s out of town, 2 of them are in ORD for training at the District Office…that’s right, they’re drinking the kool-aid!!! This committee has kept NONE of their campaign promises.
As bad as the committee is doing the stewards are doing worse. There was an accident last Friday involving 2 aircraft. When the steward showed up to represent the guys instead of trying to keep the number of agents to be drug tested to a minimum he advised management to test them all! ARE YOU KIDDING ME, all of them? Although this is a new steward in CLT he’s not new to representing agents, he’s NH from PHL and is running for AGC, and if he wins he can screw agents on a wider scale. If any of the agents tested that shouldn’t have been tested gets terminated, they should file charges against NH for failure to represent them.
We have to agree with them on 1 thing: they said we need change and we sure got it! And boy are we headed in a “new directionâ€.
Beware, rocky road ahead!
