A quick review of the CLT fleet service grievance committee and new steward’s first 40 days. They campaigned touting there would be a change and that’s what we needed, well the first change had nothing to do with us, the most junior member of the committee, MC, was a part time agent during the campaign, he couldn’t hold a day line as a full timer but in December when he found out he had won the election he put in for full time and was awarded it in January, guess when…that’s right, the week he took office and now off the clock working whatever hours he wants, which brings me to the next topic, time off. After making some calls to other hub cities we find that the CLT committee is the only whole committee off the clock. The other hub committee chairmen are the only ones off the clock not the whole committee and then in most of the hubs only when they need to do grievance work. Now they are working OT on grievance days, how does that fly when they work any hours they want and don’t clock in or out with work brain? There has to be an OT bypass there somewhere for someone! They’ve advised agents to contact management with problems instead of handling them through the grievance procedure, guess they don’t have time for agents’ problems, they have OT to work. This week the whole committee’s out of town, 2 of them are in ORD for training at the District Office…that’s right, they’re drinking the kool-aid!!! This committee has kept NONE of their campaign promises.

As bad as the committee is doing the stewards are doing worse. There was an accident last Friday involving 2 aircraft. When the steward showed up to represent the guys instead of trying to keep the number of agents to be drug tested to a minimum he advised management to test them all! ARE YOU KIDDING ME, all of them? Although this is a new steward in CLT he’s not new to representing agents, he’s NH from PHL and is running for AGC, and if he wins he can screw agents on a wider scale. If any of the agents tested that shouldn’t have been tested gets terminated, they should file charges against NH for failure to represent them.

We have to agree with them on 1 thing: they said we need change and we sure got it! And boy are we headed in a “new directionâ€￾.
Beware, rocky road ahead!

I heard that pigs will squeal form eating sour grapes and I see you got a belly full.
What station or planet are you from? Obviously you don't know where the Grievance office is. If you did you would know like the rest of us that someone is in the grievance office from around 6am to 6pm "working". We never saw the former Committee in the office except for last November and December. Even then they just wandered the breakrooms campaigning. The junior of them was appointed and when he was on the property he sat in the team 3 breakroom asking people what he could do for them. Never were they to be found working in the office. The new committee's presence on the property is a HUGE change.
Did you see their names on the station bid? Alot of people asked them why they were bidding when the Committee was never before on the schedule. They told us that they had to submit for time off dependant on the volume of work weekly. If the work was not there, they would need to work their bid assignment. Seems like you have your facts wrong!
As for Shop Stewards, are you one. Did you know that the Local will not provide necessary training for new Stewards until May. Thats ridiculous. Ask any of the Stewards what is beeing done for them. The new Committee has created and printed a Shop Steward Reference Manual for each of them. There have been meetings with the Shop Stewards. The previous Committee never had meetings with the Stewards. They kinda did their own thing. There were many previous Stewards that were NEVER trained. That speaks so much for the new Committee.
Have you seen the Newsletter that the new Committee put out. It is exactly what we asked for. Good information. It included the names of the new Stewards, Safety Committee chair and all the safety reps. We were introduced to the new PIT transfers. It covered local issues, safety issues and transition talks. There was even a place for the sick and disabled.
The closest the old Committee came to keeping us informed was a memo that looked like a huge run on sentence.
The new Committee has walked from break room to break room keeping the membership informed on the Transition talks and local issues each week. The new Safety chair has been walking break room to break room keeping us informed.
Our station "is" heading in a new direction. If you "piggly wiggly" are one of the previous Grievance Committee, you must be trying to fool someone in another station because we all see what a real Committee does.

I agree with Rat Tales. The new GC is doing an excelent job disseminating information revelant to the happenings for the ramp. Unlike the previous GC they are seen often and are very approachable concerning matters deemed important to the ramp. The two you speak of may have been in ORD for training but they were definitely were not drinking the "kool-aid". One is going to be meeting with the company trying to hammer out a new T/A. His promise not to sell us out is as good as if it were written in stone.

We really do not care how things are done with other GCs. This is OUR GC here in CLT. The emphasis is on OUR. This is the first time it feels like our GC. The only time the former GC was ever seen is when they wanted something from us. Like trying to sell us a POS T/A or saving their own arses. The fact that one member went full time is irrevelant because the job requires the dedication of full time. Unlike the previous GC they are willing to devote more than just 40 hours a week to do what is best for us.

I supported them in the election and have the utmost confidence in their ability to carry out any promises that were made during the campaign.
Keep up the good work.

"

let's see RR became a trustee and thought he became the Godfather  then was appointed that's right appointed to the GC
and decided it was time for him to become FT so that he too would reap a 40 hr week.

"we find that the CLT committee is the only whole committee off the clock."
wrong they punch in and out just like everyone else. and guess what THEY are ON the PROPERTY ..unlike the 3 amigos that
occasionally worked 5 or 6 hours over at the LODGE.. kinda hard to get to speak them over there. plus if you called it usually took
a day or so for them to get to ya.

"They’ve advised agents to contact management with problems instead of handling them through the grievance procedure, guess they don’t have time for agents’ problems, they have OT to work. This week the whole committee’s out of town, 2 of them are in ORD for training at the District Office…"
once again MR PIGGY WRONG. they haven't done any such thing and as far as them working O.T .. WRONG.. I personally know
2 of them and they are actually taking a pay cut.. doing this job . since they used to work 1 to 2 doubles a week.

"There was an accident last Friday involving 2 aircraft. lets see MR PIGGY were you there until 4:30 in morning with those guys waiting for the drug tester to come in from GSO.. and
lets also see as far as everyone being tested that was Corporate Safteys call not his..

so in conclusion before you start running your mouth about things you obviously have no clue about. GET THE FACTS

I would think this poster smells of a JR .. since .. RR doesn't have the brains or smarts to work the boards. We all Know MC can't
complete a sentence so can't be him and I think FC really doesn't give a S*it one way or the other..

Many Lodge 1776 members had the opportunity to meet the GC when they came up to PHL this month. I must give them the upmost respect they did something that the other former GCM never did... The New GC showed unity and solidarity and support to the PHL members at our lodge meeting. They were applauded by the members of the lodge for doing such a unionist action. I'm proud to see such good laborists taking leadership roles many could learn a few things from these new leaders.

Here we go again feeding on each other and giving management a free pass.

There is a big difference between feeding and setting the record straight! Tell it like it is! Good job CLT! Thank You Tales & hadenough! You too O-man!

This is an IAM discussion and technically it belongs in the IAM thread.

That said, would you all prefer a separate thread-one for M&R and the other for fleet?

A reminder however...ONLY moderators are permitted to open labor related threads.

Well this pertains to fleet, we dont have an M& thread this week, nothing going yet.

So say if I have an M&R topic, contact the mods first to get it posted?

Only people directly involved should be tested, not the whole ramp crew working the plane.

Just General Principles.

Demand a recount! Please, drug use can not be tolerated!
So if the whole ramp that day what the heck all employees in CLT that day had to get drug test how many would be false positive? The testing company can get you that stat. As a shop steward your world of. If you did nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about went out in elementary school

The reason you don't allow any and all drug testing is because at US, if you give management an inch, they'll take a mile. They aggressively seek to break down the contract and with it, the respect the membership has for the union.

Which is why Canale is in the deep kimchi right now. Because he allowed the company to use the contract for toilet paper, the membership has no use for him.

IIRC, the contract allows drug testing for just cause. For agents directly involved in the incident, the company is within their rights to have them tested.

No one else.
