This was the "perfect storm" waiting to happen. Let's think about this for a moment.
1) original problem on Wednesday........bad weather cancelled flights..crews out of position....end of month fewer reserves available......no seats available on later flights......unless nore misconnects. No room for more bags.......very few agents available to rebook (read cost reduction..fewer employees scheduled).
2) sick calls AFTER the situation has already come unglued....make it worse BUT the causes were already there!
3) US Airways is like a vehicle with NO shock absorbers......Can work IF weather is good, loads reasonable etc.
4) Many employees are not in the mood to keep bailing water......who to blame?
5) If Management is NOT responsible for this.......then what is reason to have Management?
Just some thoughts. It started with weather and continued with an unreasonable schedule that could no longer be operated, then with no seats to rebook on. Think of it....thousands of people stranded and our answer is to load planes with bags only, to run to CLT?
Question : What are the chances the Company will survive this? I don't see improvement until January. Are these cracks in the wall or has the wall finally broken and unrepairable?
