Last nightthe word was plans to combine 491 and 435 when they start the next s check line. Have a large pool of people and use them as needed. Anyone else hear of this?

I seriously doubt it, they have been seperate bid areas for over 50 years and some guys in the hangar who dont have thier tickets or only have one or the other, would not be able to work, because for the line you need both tickets.

in the pool you'd only send people to line with tickey's.. 😉

lotta butt kissin' then? 😱

Bid area qualifications, in order to work the line or be part of the line per the MPP you need to have both tickets, that is an agreement between the FAA and US on how to operate the maintenance dept.

But as of now they daily farm people from heavy to line or vice versa.....its comming...

Dell said that 😉

Gosh Darn It Dell!! Don't you go contradicting Mr. 700. After all, he knows everything about everything and he doesn't even work for the company anymore. Where's your manners?!

They been taking hanger guys and farming to the line in CLT when no C check to be worked. I recall working in hanger 1 in PIT and being farmed to the line several times!

I feel Pit will see some changes for sure by the end of this year. It's fact that with the ongoing flight reductions and the overnights getting smaller they are at least 60 mechanics overstaffed. Most likely they will bring in another airbus heavy to middock and not have to add any manpower in pit. South and North dock gets planes out early, almost too fast so they will rob some people off these crews to support a third check. They also want to bring alot of work back to CLT and when they do you in CLT will see your facility maximized just like pit. I know they want the seat shop and more back in CLT and not because of the work ethic but you have so much dam space available there. We have no more room in pit and I advise you people in CLT to grab this opportunity or it will go west.

Right now the company is writing a new MPPM for the combined company. So new things will be added to Bid area qualifications.

If you have the tickets and the required training there is nothing stopping you from working the line. The End

Clear me up on something here, where might that 3rd Airbus heavy check come from because all small Airbus checks are done in house per the contract, I realize U west is still farming and the reason I'm told is no transition agreement has been agreed to, that being said your not implying that work that should be going to our new brothers on the West side will be brought to Pit because of their work ethic, the 737 checks in Clt are leaving very early as well! You don't really think the company is going to send all U east and U west work to only east stations do you especially since the guys on the west really feel they are getting the short end from the company with the merger. Pit produces a good product and has a very talented work force but that doesen't mean anything to bean counters, seen to many quality stations closed because it did not fit with the company business model. INT was a perfect example of that, GSO as well and numereous others. Never say Never and you know what I'm talking about. I am afraid Pit could become the next INT, lets all hope that doesen't happen!

And 50 years ago we used rotary phones and listened to AM radio. So what? Time marches on.

This kind of thinking is pervasive throughtout the IAM (among other unions) and is part of what has made US such a dud financially for a long time.

I've seen MPPM changes faster than one can blink when it is in the companies interest, and bet your bippy...FAA won't have a problem with combining the two dept's.
Already have "Base Maintenance"...

This may happen like it or not. They have to find a way to reduce the line without pissing people off, and a way to take on added work without recall, they wil totally control what's left of the burgh how sad. By the way A/W will be getting alot of action out west in the next few months enjoy.
