The relevance of any thread is what you make of it. Ed and Mike were very well liked by all employees. Most of the employees would do what ever it took to get things done and done right. It was a true team effort.

The respect for Ed and Mike came from the way they treated their employees. That day in the hanger they were trying to tell everyone how bad things were for the company. Some were in shock and other refused to believe what was said. A few understood what was said and new about what the future would hold in store for all.

For the most part ED and Mike were honest with their employees. The employees trusted them both for that and other reasons.

It was the day that every thing started down hill very fast.

From that day forward employees were hardened by the future officers and management that would be "in-charge" of the company. The officers of the company formed and molded the attitudes of the AWA employees from that time forward.

The U east employees have been through similar situations I am sure. Their attitudes have also been formed by the events of their history.

You lash out at people for what you consider to be negative talk. I consider it to be "experienced" talk. It's a little rough some times but it is worth listening to. Good or Bad.

DP has some "earning" to do as far as respect has to go. IMHO🙂

Posts like your post is very valuable in that your sharing a past experience that some of us haven't gone thru. It is appreciated. The problem is when people just mouth off to mouth off with no intention to add value. Their intention seems to be to tear everything down and make everyone as miserable as they are. Much different than agreeing to disagree, or sharing a personal experience. I'll have to admit I'm paying much more attention to events as they unfold due to posts like yours above.

Remember Eric this is a media with no consequences, except that you may get "banned" for bad language or character assassination. Controlling any part of this takes away from its value. Good or Bad. Every one should be able to speak their mind. I don't agree with everything that is said here but I do believe people have the right to say it. I find myself getting caught up in the "name calling" game sometimes too. I know.....shame on me.....but that's
how it works sometime. I try to start threads that will get people thinking. What they think about is their decision. 🙂

Amen to getting people to think. Tough job and some will never learn to think for themselves. 😉

Point taken Gonzo. The other day I just had enough of all the negativity and name calling....while "lashout" may be a little harsh...looking back I did go overboard. I'm here to learn and keep abreast of merger happenings like most are, not to lashout at anyone. Good post.

I really don't think any one person is the target of someone lashing out, but it is just the accumulation of many things that cause some "lash" leakage. It's good some times to go back and look at what you have written and think "did I say that?". We can all learn from that situation. I know that for sure in my situation. 🙂

Agreed Gonzo. It all has to be taken with a grain of salt because I think everyone is frustrated at one level or another.......I know that I am. But it's a good way to share those frustrations AND learn in the process.

You have to be careful of the chain reaction........."you are such a"......"yea well you are too"........"your mother wears combat boots"........You get the idea. 🙂

🙄 😀

Stop crying about the negativity! U took some of the happiest and most positive people (Much like SWA today) at Piedmont and made them sceptical and untrusting (like me). Mr. Parker, et al, must show us they are not just more empty suits. Thus far, they have not demonstrated anything that we have not seen before: phantom airplane orders, mergers and talk, lack substance. Real substance will turn the U Easters around...nothing less. I will be waiting, albiet, not expecting for that to happen.

It will be interesting to see how the cheerleaders/cool aide drinkers/DP worshippers react to Jerry Glass when he takes on the employees. Go Glass, ra ra!!

The militant union posters on
this forum are particularly
challenged in this area. They
believe that just because they
are in a union, they are not
allowed to think on their own
or dissent from the collective
mantra.

Ahhhh......ya.....that's right. I understand that there has been some union members that have disagreed with you in the past, so that explains your "militant non union" attitude. LOL

Gonzo:

It is true that I have had many
battles on this forum, and some
of them were related to my
"militant non-union" stance.
In my opinion, unions have
outlived their usefulness,
particularly in today's airline
environment where they have very
little influence over pay and
work rules. Last I checked,
most of the unions members at
US have seen their pay and
working conditions going
backwards over the past 3 years.

My point in the previous post is
that union members don't even have
the luxury of forming their own
opinions about certain things.
They can only reiterate the stance
of their union whether they agree
with it or not. Dissent is not
well received among union members.

Unions are very relevant, just look at Delta, the airline is doing whatever they want to the majority of the employees as they are non-union.

And unions are a democratic organization members can form their own opinions and voice them anytime they want. And dissent is welcomed as everyone has a right to disagree if they choose and get involved to effort change.
