So AWA320 is management huh? Mighty combative for management. They are usually more diplomatic.

THIS THREAD SHOULD BE A WARNING TO ALL OTHER PILOT GROUPS.
STAY AWAY FROM ANY MERGERS!!!!!!!!!!!
AWA would have been better off picking up the pieces in a liquidation sale.
Didn't say he was management. But he doesn't post second handed info on these boards like some people. Right A320?
How's that pay parity thing going for you east guys?

I'll see the left seat before you see pay parity, that's for sure!!!NOT TOO GOOD! Hows that Captain checkout thing going for you West guys?

You didn't have to say AWA320 was management. Your message was loud and clear.

You didn't have enough money in the bank to put a lock on the front doors to the Tempe HQ.
Even if there were a liquidation sale, what would you have used to take part? Wampum?

As for the company not agreeing to pay parity...o.k., they have that right and the East pilots have the right to not grant Q-400 scope relief, the Company may have to turn to "Plan B" and the 64-seat ATR to replace the Dash-8 and there will be no joint contract.
Thus, the AWA pilots will not get a pay raise either and maintain their current seniority with stagnation.
Rueters recently reported, according to US Airways spokeswoman Andrea Rader said, however, that the airline has plenty of incentive to see its pilots unions fully integrated. There are countless efficiencies and cost advantages associated with integration, she said. "It's better for the company to operate with one contract," Rader said. "It's more efficient, and it gives our employees more flexibility."
However, the company and the AWA pilots will not be able to integrate and obtain a joint contract until their is an acceptable solution to the Nicolau Award for the US Airways pilots.
Irony alert at 11!

If the AWA pilots do go into Section VI negotiations and the proceeding goes to a strike, most US Airways pilots I have talked to indicate they would continue to fly.
It is my understanding the US Airways MEC's comment of "just say no" means decertify ALPA, elect another union (probably the Teamsters), never agree to a joint contract, go to Section VI negotiations some time in 2010, not support an AWA strike if their Section VI negotiations go that far in four to five years, and then after 7 or 8 years with a lot of East Coast attrition and international growth see what happens.
In the meantime the AWA pilots will have to enter into Section VI negotiations on their own and if the pilots strike, how many US Airways East pilots do you believe would cross your picket line to break the strike? From what I am hearing almost all of the East pilots.
If the AWA pilot Section VI negotiations ever went to a 30-day cooling off period and a strike, how many US Airways East pilots would cross the AWA picket line?
Takes a whole lot of chaputz to make statements like that and then question why people out West might not quite support the idea of the East getting a pay raise.
Moreover, there is a very simple and previously defined avenue for your pay raise--the JNC.
So, if Junebug asked you if you would honor a West strike, what would the answer be? I anticipate some mumbling about "honoring the transition agreement," which, if the AWA folks actually have to go Section 6 and to a strike is a joke anyway, but entertain us. Ducking and weaving around one's own statements makes for entertainment that exceeds cable in most places these days......
PS, I mentioned that this is what would happen. I could ask "how could one be so wrong," but then the irony meter would peg on this post.....
That pesky little problem of furloughs when the next merger happens. How do we handle that again?

Nostradamus asks
Do you consider drug runners scum bags?
They did in Australia.Your 18-year guys might get their jobs back at Burger King.
Is that what you did while your were furloughed?
And I don't think drug runners cross picket lines.
Not true. Most merger candidates reduced their workforce and operation significantly in the past 5 years. They are now mostly working with a severe shortage of manpower and are starting the process of hiring off the street. A merger would mean that manpower would actually be "right sized" for a change. In the case of East pilots already furloughed, they would remain at the bottom where they are now, and would be recalled to flying positions faster than through attrition alone. Are your bottom 300 aware that they will be fodder after the next merger?
I just heard thru official sources that the company has no plans to entertain parity. Looks like LOA 93 for the long haul boys and girls, unless you wise up and get a contract. I'm holding out for UAL or even NWA or any carrier at this point. The whole decert effort on the east if it ever had any real legs at all will be the shortest in the history of unions![]()
Now for this meeting on the 17th, you know the one not covered by CB&L or any reference what so ever in merger policy. Here's our offer, since you really have nothing in which to offer. Show up ready with furlough protection in the neighborhood of the first 2500 come off the east list prior to reaching Dave Odell. You come in with that then maybe our people will listen, anything else is uncivilized! 😉![]()
