Are you even aware of the fact that 1/3 of the population of the US lives in 4 states? Do he math and maybe you will figure it out.La Li Lu Le Lo said:You are making the statement that the majority of the state legislatures and governors are against it but the majority of the public is for it. Do you realize how stupid that sounds?
What does that tell you?
Marriage has ALWAYS been the domain of STATE LAW.
If you want to talk about what government does and does not do let's talk about Arizona having to enforce immigration law because the Federal Government REFUSES to do so.
If you want to talk about the Equal Protection Clause, let's talk about Affirmative Action.

Whenunderutilization is found, placement goals should be established to increase the numbers of minorities and/or women, as needed.
In other words let's ignore achievement and ability and fill a quota, but let's not call it a quota let's call it a goal.
You mean the courts have imposed what Americans do not want...... again. You mean the courts robbed Americans of the legislative process.......again. You mean the Federal Government has trampled on states' rights on its march to socialization..... again.
Yes it means that while people may support something that they will not make an effort if it does not have a direct impact on them.
Nearly everything is up to state law but state law still cannot violate the COTUS.
The majority of people do agree with it but that is a separate issue. Courts had to make rulings on civil rights that were against what the public believed. Equal rights are not something to be left up to the will of the people. Would you like to place your rights in the hands of the voters? I'm guessing not.
