Another Tax Problem for Obama Nominee

The informal battle between members of the Obama Administration and the Taxman resulted in a casualty Tuesday, with news that President Obama's nominee to be chief performance officer, Nancy Killefer, will withdraw her nomination following the revelation that she had a $946.69 lien on her property in 2005 for failure to pay taxes.

Killefer, who was announced to much fanfare by President Obama on Jan. 7 to serve in the new position to make the U.S. government "more effective, more efficient, and more transparent," is the third high-level Obama Administration official whose failure to pay taxes in recent years was disclosed in the past month.

I'm sure it was just an dishonest mistake!!

And now, rumor is that Daschle is withdrawing due to his failure to pay close to $130,000 in taxes for a car and driver service. I am assuming that the recent name withdrawing is due to pressure from Obama. That is good to hear; but I am still a bit perplexed about these people failing to pay taxes (some of them seem more serious than others).

Daschle has withdrawn!

He is an idiot for throwing away this appointment because he wouldn't pay his taxes.

I bet he's seething......he would not have had to pay these back taxes if he weren't nominated...he paid them ...now has withdrawn....

The Wall Street Journal reports the White House’s nominee for Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Leon Panetta, has earned more than $700,000 in speaking and consulting fees since the beginning of 2008, with some of the payments coming from troubled financial firms and from a firm that invests in contractors for federal national security agencies, according to financial disclosures released Wednesday.

Mr. Panetta received $56,000 from Merrill Lynch & Co. for two speeches and $28,000 for a speech for Wachovia Corp., according to disclosures released ahead of Thursday’s scheduled Senate hearing on Mr. Panetta’s nomination.

Executive compensation for financial sector companies that take federal bailout funds = $500K

Compensation for Government officials speaking to federally bailed out financial sector companies = Priceless

Now, on a lighter note:

When Obama's Executive Order on Ethics Commitments stand in the way of nominating a Deputy Secretary of Defense, or any other position for that matter, just give them a waiver!

The Obama administration has given an ethics waiver for Bill Lynn, a Defense Department nominee who is a former lobbyist.

In a written statement released moments ago, Armed Service Committee Chairman Carl Levin said the administration "has removed an obstacle to the confirmation of Bill Lynn to be Deputy Secretary of Defense by waiving the provisions of President Obama's Executive Order on Ethics Commitments that would have precluded Mr. Lynn's service.

Yesterday, Levin said he would have to delay Lynn's confirmation process because as a former defense lobbyist for Raytheon, Lynn's service would conflict with the Administration's new ethics rules. Those rules prohibit former lobbyist from working in the area they once lobbied, unless a waiver is given.

Now the only requirement is that they promise to never never never lobby again, or something like that . . .

Maybe to help pay back all the money to be spent in the porkulus bill, they can sell "Ethics Waiver" coupons at the check out counter in at the local mini mart. Cant pay your taxes? Send in a Ethics Waiver coupon!

Proposal: For every congressman that votes for this stimulus bill that is supposed to create 3 millions jobs. If in a set amount of time if it does not create 3 million jobs then you quit and give up your pension, health care, and not be allowed to be a lobbyist. Forever........................

Barack Obama's Education Secretary Arne Duncan

Change, or I'll beat your ass

"He hurt my feelings," Martin said.
 Grow up young man!

Well, not to be abusive, but I have relatives (yes more than one) that at times fear for their lives trying to teach in public schools. I, myself, had some teachers that were ‘physical’ to some of the thug students that kept them in check.
Maybe if Ma N’ Paw (if he’s even around) exercised some discipline, then po lil billy would not get the #### kicked out of him. Our public schools are a freaking mess when teachers are afraid to teach.

Then again we do have ebonics…
