Conversion to Amadeus Reservations System

That is why US stuck with the PIG system we have right now. otherwise US would have been stuck with a Sabre contract that US would not have gotten out of. this comes from employees of Amadeus computer systems employees who UA and US employees have spoken too who travel pos space. the Star Alliance big time LH folks dont play games.. so okay.. go with this... but this is nothing new among employees on the EAST CSA folks who work with the other international carriers..

US would be operationaly sound...well maybe not but heck...we would run better on a singular platform for star alliance.

The plan for ages has been for a single reservation system for Star Alliance carriers.

US Airways would know this is they bothered to attend a single Star meeting (I guess the last one in LAX was too far from PHX.. US was the only one who didn't make it).

Please Please shed some of those meetings that you have attended.. let us US know when we are getting the big HEAVE OH like they gave Varig and Mexicana.. Please Share.. not to be confused with SHARES. Not attending a meeting does not mean anything.. US is still part of it all.. Very little of our "marketing" has any mention of Star Alliance. By contrast, try to find a single United ad without the "A STAR ALLIANCE CARRIER" tag. Maybe if they toned down the swooshes they could fit one in here and there.

I've heard the same thing. With the elimination of paper tickets in 2008 all carriers are supposed to be on one system since they will all be issuing e tkts.

What is interesting is that to date we've only heard from US IT that they had NO PLANS to convert to Amadeus

Of course even if US were to accede to Star Alliance wishes and switch to Amadeus, Tempe would insist on running it through "QIK"!

everyone keeps saying that QIK is the problem....what are the specific problems with QIK? how do you know that it is QIK that is the problem? I would really be interested in seeing some detailed "problems."

Anyway, since the Star Alliance Carriers are going to the Amadeus system it would behoove us to do the same.

They even have business solutions for LCC's. Sounds good to me.

In order to attend star alliance meetings.. YOU have to wear a suit and tie / or business attire ,, Dougie and company don't own any so that could be way he doesn't attend

My best friend works for Star at the FRA HQ. According to him, we are the only carrier to not sign onto the single (Amadeus) reservation system. We were asked to participate, we declined.

How's the weather in Tempe today? Just check back on many threads that have anything to do with the computer system from Mar 4th on and you'll get an earful.
Also a major problem is when you send in a QIKFIX by QIK and it shuts your computer down. They say they know its a problem and are working on fixing it. This has been ongoing since June or July. Now I can either say F-IT and go on break or reboot my computer in order to continue working. What should I do????? 🙄


And in regards to switching to a new computer system - it wouldnt cost that much since we all know Tempe doesnt train except for newhires (which they'd be training on the computer anyway!) :down:
