You have employee A, who does a particular job. This employee (by Company A contract) gets $20 in salary, and $5 in fringe benefits to perform that job.

You have employee U, who does the same job. This employee (by Company U contract) gets $16 in salary, and $4 in fringe benefits to perform that job.

Now. 'splain how you can pay these employees the same rate in a cost neutral contract without taking something from employee A?

Doug?

Jerry?

Can anybody show the magic of cost-neutral-math?

B I N G O ! Every single employee needs to realize that a "cost neutral" contract equals CONCESSIONS!! Hands down! That's the game! Cost neutral makes it sound as if we are "keeping" the little that we have. Wrong-o, big time. Get ready for a fight.

Make the working condition and pay and benefits so bad that top of scale employee B quits.

John-John, The top end of the scale b (hp employee) won't quit no matter how bad it gets. You have to remember until the PHX ramp get a 90% pay raise we will never be close to east wages.

I doubt you are making just under $2.00 an hour, get real.

Huge difference in working on the ramp in PHX vs working the ramp in PHL. Yes PHX works in 100+ degrees, well so does PHL occassionally, add about 90% humidity to that as well. Lets not forget the rain/sleet/ice/snow/temps below zero. I realize you are doing the same work however, there should be some additional compensation for the particular elements. I am not saying they deserve to makes thousands more, but you can bet there isn't too many working the ramp in PHX that would be willing to go to PHL even for the pay raise.

Why does everyone think PHL should get preferential treatment as in higher wages prize giveaways etc. etc.....

Give us all a break we all work for the same company, many elsewhere with well over 20+ years seniority....

And because management continues to run a cluster mess in 1 city, they can screw up and get extra perks...

Everyone should get the same period.....

Cost neutral is not possible without someone giving something up. You can only cut a pie so many ways. Some get more because others get less.

Jimmy Neutron, the west pilots make substantially more than those in the east and Doug thinks that is Okay.

That isn't what I am saying...I am simply saying there are many factors in many industries as to why people doing the same job make more money. Would you leave lushious PHX to work on the ramp in PHL, for the same pay you make now? I doubt it. I am sure you could probably find 300 people that work the ramp in PHL that would gladly go to PHX to work the ramp for your wages. Its all relative. No one is saying their deserve more perks, we are talking about wages based on jobs. In order for them to find people to work the ramp under the conditions of the Northeast, has to pay somewhat well or they wouldn't find anyone too do it.

Forget the fact that in PHX, there are usually 2 rampers on every gate and a team lead. One of the rampers will have to run local bags to the carousel. This applies whether the aircraft is a 737 or a fully-loaded 757 going to HNL. In many cases, you end up with one ramper unloading and loading. A ramper usually is assigned to a gate with 5 or 6 turns. As soon as you get in, you better go looking for your equipment because during the night, it has grown legs and walked away. Then you have ramp supervisors who won't let you take lunch because you arrived at 0600 and your first inbound was at 0630, "you should have taken your lunch then; you squandered a whole 30 minutes right there!" Of course, the temp on the ramp is much higher than ambient temperature. This ain't paradise. Shall I go on? Aren't you a flight attendant, or something?

Yes, I am a flight attendant, what is your point? I am assuming by this post you work in PHX. The problems you listed in PHX, PHL only wishes they had that much help. They have nearly double the traffic volume and the 767 and the A330 fully loaded. Don't think that because I am just a "flight attendant" that I don't have a clue. I have sat many times at the gate in PHL with a plane load of people for hours waiting for bags to be unloaded and reloaded. Its not a picnic to try to explain to our customers what is taking so long, and why our flt so delayed.

Lets not turn this thread into something its not. I never meant to imply that the folks on the ramp in PHX deserve to be paid less money. I was simply stating that the same jobs in different areas of the country pay more due to the fact of economics/location etc. I'm sure once we are merged as one airline someone with your experience would be welcomed on the ramp in PHL, if you think they are getting something you are not.

Oh, I see. Just like Piney, you see the rampers out the window and that makes you a freakin expert on all things ramp.

I'm sure I would not be welcomed on the ramp in PHL as I am sure it would be open season on the Westie who had the gall to come onto their turf. dee dee dee That and I have zero patience for lazy scumbags who don't want to work and do everything half-assed. I would accept no amount of money to work in that rat's nest.

Hi! My first post! (although i have been reading for months....) I am nervous....

We would welcome you in PHL... the whole west east thing is really blown out of proportion. And even tho I am a FA, we dont have "scumbags" on the ramp, at least not that I have met.

Barbee.... are you having a lil tantrum? Rat's nest? Harsh, I must say....Relax and take your meds, babe.

Night!
