Ok people, to bad "Ideas thet Fly" is no longer in place as I have just discovered a $16800 cost savings. I have just received (and returned to sender) a booklet issed by the company on the rules of conduct. I did notice that the postage paid by the company was .60 and multiply that by maybe 28000 employee's and you come up with a cost of $16800!!!! Why not just drop a few copies off at each station and if anybody wishes to they can read them. (I doubt if many will although we are always in need of scratch paper). There you go "Dave", hopefully you can implement that plan in the future and it is a start toward your goal of 200-300mil savings. 😛

Is this the book titled something like Ethics and conduct policy? My buddy that i work with received one but no one else in my station to date has received it. I was also wondering if everyone that is still left on the property is going to get a copy of this book? I know what I'll do if I get one, return to sender!

I don't remember if an official reason was ever given. Many good ideas were submitted and implemented. Typical U though, upper managment hates when the floor comes up with a good idea..............

APTech -

Problem is this... If US decided to let every employee simply pick up the booklet, you know plenty wouldn't. Then they'd violate one of the rules that they didn't know about, claim they were never notified, and win a grievance. In the long run, it's probably cheaper to mail it. If it was returned by the post office, you could then hand it to the employee.

That about sums it up too !!

Unlike sound companies like FedEx whom reward their workers for profit saving brainstorms....U is way to in love with paying "Business School" Yahoos whom have never worked a day in the airline business to come up with things.

"Ideas that Fly" did in fact free up the resources to take delivery on an entire B757-200 at one point , imagine would it could do now when effeciences should be under the microscope like no other time in our history?

U's so-called leadership proves time and again what a "One Trick Pony" it truly is...instead of using logic and reason in terms of logistics alone , it opts to take advice of a computer program known as "The Model" Countless times it has been shown that "The Model" is only a baseline for what to do , or not to do....but allow operational changes or circumstance needs to evolve beyond "The Models" range of design?....and it takes an act of congress and a lengthy debate to over-ride this artificial intelligence and those whom are lazy enough to defend it from their desk chair.

The front line employee's need far greater input into whats taking place....and what's not working or practical , Yet the Moon-Base Legacy mentality always tends to rule the roost....and CCY is too busy playing games or waging legal battles to examine the core problems. Afterall , it's always easier to reward stupidity and take from those whom actually have to make things work.

AOG,

A/C 610US was the plane bought and paid for by the employees cost saving ideas.

It was the first brand new 757 US Air purchased and Wolf decided to take the ideas that fly logo off the plane.

"Ideas that Fly" exposed management at U as weak and unable to even cut costs at an elementry level. Thus, it had to go. 🙂
