What's new

Crew members at AWA fly seperate... US together

If you're talking about block hours (time when the plane pushes back until it comes to rest after flight) the west FAs have no limits. They have scheduled and actual duty limitations ( the time the arrive at the airport until they 15mins after their last flight).
Oh, I was told that the West have 14 limit for flight and 14+30 for duty. No limits huh? That's nice.

I've seen some of your east (furloughed employees) they can't hack our 14 hr duty days... and you actually think your SENIOR FA's on the EAST Can hack it... I'll tell you: there are days I can't Hack the 14 hr duty days. .. Your zoned out and totally going though the motions.... Your a zombie... Trust me... Lets have a 8hr duty day. I would rather have longer layovers than our 9 hrs or 13 hr layovers..... I would also rather fly more days (8hr days and less days off). Just my thought... 😛h34r:

Okay, are you management?
We are safety professionals.
If we were glorified sky-waitresses, we would have been replaced by vending machines already.
Flying over fourteen hours is not safe.

You are a safety professional in a career field where the floor has dropped out of the compensation paid because there are a lot of people who will work cheaper then you and all the company needs to do is not negotiate any improvements in your working conditions or compensation and then you too will leave and they win again.

Right. That's why we need to realize that this will be a long fight. FA's, start saving $$$ and preparing for a long fight. Saving money, picketing, attending meetings, etc. is an inconvenience. Unfortunately, this is not a joke. At all. DP is firmly convinced that with regards to ALL labor groups, he is offering a pay scale that attracts the best in the business. No more, no less. Nothing. He has stated this numerous times. Remember, DP and Kirby have stated many times that taking the best of both the AWA contracts and the old US contract will still be way above what they want to pay. (Don't get me started on S. Shamblin; she should be nowhere near the negotiating table with her mentality.)

Translation: More concessions.

Outraged yet?

This is why voting for the best representation is crucial. It's all about what we will be able to negotiate.

sky high states: I wonder what the attrition rate is for new hires? How many people have left the company?

Imagine hearing this at your interview: You get to travel for free, AND, AND..........you'll be making $20,000 a year, work weekends and holidays for 15 years. Be on-call your entire career. Pay for training, buy your uniform. In other words, WE OWN YOU............Want the job?

only stating opinions.

Is it true that on the HP side they couldn't find enough decent flight attendants to hire so they called applicants who simply did not show up to their scheduled interview and asked if they wanted to reschedule?

Volunteer? Volunteer? Are you all crazy out there?
One VERY LARGE piece of information is missing here--if you are projected to go over 14:30 hours, and you volunteer to do this (so that a flight will not cancel) you get an addtional 7 hours of pay. So, yes, we VOLUNTEER!
